Should I sell up? - V8V Pics Added
Re: Should I sell up?
Hi,
sorry to hear about hassles, had a fair bit aswell selling the exige. Don't know if it helps but I'm looking for an s1 elise at the moment. Had a chat with a lad selling a black s1 at 8k on ph in the standard ads from Perthshire.
The chap mentioned he was looking for an exige at about 18-19k. I memtioned that he had just missed a nice one (yours). Might be worth a call? He knew paulg aswell.
Only thing I'm dubious about is he's never sent me any of the pics or info I asked for or joined Se as I suggested. As above a quick call and offer of a test drive might just net a sale.
Cheers

Thanks Flip - have dropped him an email. Already have another buyer lined up but it's at less than what I want to achieve price wise!

						Re: Should I sell up?
Have you considered selling it via MMC?
They did a brilliant job selling mine for me - of course that assumes (a) you don't mind the commission (I did not - good VFM in my opinion) (b) your car is the type of car that they will sell.
Cheers,
Robin

I think the exterior still cuts it but the interiors, which often pop up in blue with a walnut burr dash, doesn't.GregR wrote:DB7s look a little dated IMO, and haven't shaken the 'jag in drag' tag from the fact it was a re-bodied XJS.
However, I'm resigned to the fact its the only Aston I'll ever be able to afford.
If only the V8V would drop by 10k right now

Early V8's on Pistonheads are coming in around £37KCSK_423 wrote:I think the exterior still cuts it but the interiors, which often pop up in blue with a walnut burr dash, doesn't.GregR wrote:DB7s look a little dated IMO, and haven't shaken the 'jag in drag' tag from the fact it was a re-bodied XJS.

Thought they would be a bit more than that to be honest (mid 40's) !! Now can't wait till the wife's company car is up in 3 years time as would be seriously tempted to take the cash instead and grab a used Aston.

Must admit I always liked the early days when we shared a service reception with Aston, seeing those Aston bills laid our on the counter for £1K, £2K, £3K+ always made me much happier when I got the bill for the elise.

What would running costs on something like that be, assuming low annual mileage? Tax, MPG, depreciation, annual servicing?
What would running costs on something like that be, assuming low annual mileage? I rather suspect that both will be a bit on the high side. For low cost performance motoring it is hard to see past lotus exige/elise.

Re: Should I sell up?
From http://www.carbuyer.co.uk/reviews/aston ... upe/review
: A 10,000 mile service will cost around £800
So if that is a normal service I would expect that every 2nd year you make be looking at £1.2K to £1.8k with I suspect a big jump up in price when more major stuff needs to be changed. Makes the Evora's servicing cost to be Ford cheap compared to an Aston

Re: Should I sell up?
When I spoke to them, MMC will do the yearly service at:
Year 1 - £750ish
Year 2 - £850ish
Year 3 - £950ish
then Year 4 is £1200ish
That assumes no other work needs done.
Tyres seem to come in around £1000-£1200 and brakes around £1500. Clutch is the big one at over £3k (people seem to have different luck with the clutches - some are still on original at 50k and other have had to change them at 30k - all down to driving style I imagine). Petrol is around £90-£100 a tank. Road tax is £260 for 2005 cars and then £450 for 2006>. Electrics and general build quality seems to be the biggest issue. General feeling on the forums is that £2-£3k a year to run one is needed, which is obviously before insurance/petrol/road tax etc.
Depreciation - hard to tell but from chatting to people they think they will eventually bottom out around the low £30k's in between the DB7 and the DB9.
Yes I have done my homework
EDIT - MPG is 15-20. Some people can get early 20's on motorway driving.

Re: Should I sell up?
Mine was around £1000/month for petrol/servicing/warranty/parts + another £1000/month on depreciation

I saw a black AMV8 on my walk to work this morning, it looked the f*ckin nuts. Gorgeous thing. If it were me I'd be ruled by the head and get one
