Easy to check exhaust using the Larini web site, for Rover engined it is pretty obvious the differences between sport and club sport boxes, looks a bit more complicated on the toyota with more Larini models and n/a vs supercharged options.
Interesting thread on SELOC about Back On Track has just cracked the Lotus Toyota ECU so options for remapping to get the best out of your mods is possible now.

Had a look last night Ian and it doesn't look like any on the Larini site. It is a 6" ish oval box, it has twin tailpipes which are single skin cut slash (not rolled) and both tailpipes go upto the box as two separate pipes. It is close to this

but the tail pipes are different and both individual pipes go into the box at the right hand side not both ends like the above. Weird. :?

Either way it'll be coming off so will get a good look then.

Interesting that the ECU has been cracked too, sounds like remapping for mods could make a difference. :thumbsup

Just spotted this Quicksilver exhaust on the SELOC classifieds and it is exactly what mine looks like. Are they well known? Good or Bad?

I think this may be what I have.......

Yep pretty sure this is it. http://www.quicksilverexhausts.com/Lotu ... lletin.htm

I have a quicksilver on mine (albeit a somewhat different model of elise). It's been on it for years, and works fine for me. Not too loud with the sports cat in place, but a bit too loud with the de-cat (the Mrs can still hear me when I'm a few miles from home).
As far as longevity goes, it is lasting well on mine (that's it cursed now). AFAIK, for the S1 anyway, at one point in the dim and distant past, they were fairly well regarded.

They come up quite often on SELOC Donald.
Thanks Paul, when did you change to the Exige? I'll try and get up to knockhill and see it. 8)

I guess I'm going to have to sign up to SELOC as I could do with some exige/wider wheels too. Fronts mainly to help with tyre choices. I need to find out what version Larini is on mine so I can judge noise from that. I'll have to have a closer look at it. Will probably just stick a standard Elise SC box (thanks to Darks tip and Craig at MMC) on it for the meantime to ensure it's not too loud, then get a listens at some others before buying another.

On another note I managed to fix the 'crosseyedness' it had on full beam. Just bent the light back into place! :damnfunny That's the easiest fix I've ever had on any car. :thumbsup
Best way, get to some meets, here the different systems. I will hopefully have the 2bular on for the track day. There are some Rota's for sale just now on Seloc,
I picked It up on my last leave break, in May. I loved the Elise, but the limitations on getting more power from It put me off buying another. I was trying to find a 260 Cup, then seen this 240, and instantly new I had to put a deposit on It.
Yeah If you can make it up, It would be good to see you.

Thanks Andy, I've said to Craig to fit a standard Elise SC one, I'll see how I get on with that, not sure what the difference in the Exige one would be, if any?!

I've been to one or two Lotus events Paul and heard loads but can't remember which was which.

After now having done just under 1,000 miles in the car I definitely need a quieter exhaust. The drone is quite wearing and gets worse as the car get warmer even in low rpm it drones on very slight throttle. Standard box for me I think, my deafness is bad enough already from years of tractor deafness in my early teens, (no such thing as ear defenders in those days).

However everything else with the car is superb! Such a compliant wee plastic car. I've driven a few other cars at trackdays etc but that didn't really give me a chance to test them as the seat maybe wasn't quite right or it would crunch going into 3rd gear every time (in the case of Mass's old car), or more likely because I was driving someone elses car and didn't want to be in it too long or try too hard.

You need miles under your belt in all conditions to really test a car and I had that this weekend.................

Tent Packed and left on Friday afternoon. Headed North via Kinross to pick up the other half and wanted to get there quickly so just cruised up the A9. The aim was to get to Laide and use that as our base for a run on Saturday and Sunday head home again. Roof off and great weather all the way up, some 3 1/2 ish hours and 230 miles later we were at Laide (Same distance out as Ullapool but slightly south of it). Great drive up being able to easily overtake without too much downshifting keeping it sensible but making good progress.

Saturday the plan was originally to go to Applecross not because it's a great road but simply as I've never been, however as 'The Boag' had informed it would be packed we headed for Durness instead and again most of the day was warm and dry, just the latter part of the return journey that was wet. However this is the best road test you can do in any car with mixed conditions and great roads. :thumbsup

So we did a little loop to Ullapool, Durness, Tongue, Lairg, Ullapool and back to Laide. Total 260 mile round trip stopping at Durness beach for lunch refreshments and Ullapool for Dinner. The single track roads did start to get a little tiring but otherwise great fun, even the heavy rain showers didn't really impede progress.

Sunday we had breakfast, packed up headed South via Poolewe, Achnasheen, Inverness and back down the A9 again (boring I know but had to get back for the dog), stopping off at Aviemore for a bite of lunch. Another 240 miles and home on an empty tank. Filled up twice while away and averging over 30mpg which is excellent. :thumbsup

Over the last few years I had lost my road and track driving mojo for various reasons, main one being the Evo was just too focussed and bloody expensive to keep on the road, (would've been lucky to see 15 mpg on the above run and a lot less on track) and it just took all the fun out of it. Most of the time these days I'd rather take the train than drive.

Anyway I think after the fun weekend I may be enjoying it again!! :thumbsup :thumbsup (In case you can't tell  )
