Many, many thanks everyone for your kind comments, it kept me going reading them while waiting for news. It's also astounding the support one gets from a car forum, even from those who haven't met either of us! Thank You.

Finally got some news at 6.45pm, he was taken to recovery and it seemed the op went well, an hour and a half later we were taken upstairs to the High Dependancy ward. He has lost so much blood that they want to keep a close eye on him overnight. They are also making sure his heart has not been dmamaged as he lost so much blood. I will phone them in the morning to see how he is and hopefully they will tell me if he is getting moved tomorrow (will be to the Plastics ward (48)). Andy, I think tomorrow will be a bit soon, but maybe on Thurs? I have you're number and I also have Alans phone should anyone wish to contact me and don't have my number. I think from now on we will be 'getting a mannie in' and I'l be throwing that angle grinder in the bin tomorrow!!

Anyway, The Dr there told us they had repaired his artery (using a bit of his vein in his right leg), they had also repaired the nerves that were damaged and he also damaged among other tissue and muscles, his bicep, which were all fixed back together again. When we got to see him, he was very drowsy and nauseous with the morphine/anesthesea etc....

He was getting a little frustrated (in his own angry way  ) with his oxygen mask, his bed not set up to his liking, and that he somehow had a bandage on his leg when he didn't even cut his leg!!! But he was moving his fingers in his hand and he had feeling in his hand, which is great. His lower arm is sliced open for now as they dont want the pressure building up in his arm, so will hopefully be going to get it stitched up on Wed. We eventually left the hospital at half 9, 7 and a half hours after I arrived.

At this point, I owe all my love and thanks in the world to Ali C and Nicola who have been there for me all day. From as soon as I arrived in the hospital, Nic came to be with me, she made me eat and drink, and listen to me rambling on and stayed with me even after Alans folks arrived. Then she and Ali went to my house and sorted out the cats and cleaned my house for me (no easy task when the housework hadn't been done in days, dirty washing lying around and the hallway a bloodbath). I really am lucky to not only still have a husband after such a horrific accident, but to have friends as amazing as them. I owe them big style.

Thank you so much Ali and Nicola.

Im off to try and get some sleep, I still cant get the images of him lying on the floor turing pale, with blood sprouting everywhere, and his screaming out of my head. Sleeping pills for me tonight I think!!

Will update again once I find out any more info.

Thanks again everyone, it really means a lot to me.

Will do Andy, cheers. Im actually not sure what blood type he is, I was getting all worked up earlier cos I didnt know, I dont think he even knows!!! The paramedics didnt seem to be as panicked as I was though!! Im actaully amazed I coped so well, didnt faint, did everything the paramedics and 999 asked, and remained (mostly) calm, except when I had a bout of tears every couple of minutes! It seemed like I was on the phone for an hour when it was only 20 minutes, bloomin roadworks and traffic!! Its amazing that people still block the road when an ambulance is behind with sirens on and tooting the horn as well!! The driver and the paramedic and I were shouting at them all to move!!

Unfortunately, we still have to find out what the damage is, and how long it will affect him for. I'ts just a waiting game now. Hopefully his heart isnt too stressed from today, and he gets through the night with no problems. His bp was steady and heart rate in normal range but fluctuated a lot while we were there, but Im putting that down to the fact he was getting frustrated and confused. Im just glad he's still with us and he still has his arm.

I miss him already though.

Fingers crossed for good news in the morning.

great news Jen :thumbsup

Thanks for the update. you look like you have your bases pretty well covered with ali, nic and family, but you know that the overwhelming majority of us will assist you both if you need it...

Get some rest and update us all tomorrow if you get a chance.
