I *think* he's wrong though.

I have a mk1 Seat Leon, which currently has mk4 Golf GTi alloys (with my winters on).

I am certain when I looked, I found that later VW group wheels are a different fitment (still 5 stud, but a different measurement?)

From memory, mk4 Golf, mk1 Leon, mk1 Octavia, and presumable mk1 A3, older A4s and TT are all the same.

The newer ones (the ones in this ad) would fit mk5/6 Golf, mk2 Leon, mk2 Octavia, and presumable mk2 A3, TT and newer A4s..

Edit: Post edited to correct the marks of Golf that I confused - for future reference. Credit to Stevoraith's post below

I *think* he's wrong though. I have a mk1 Seat Leon, which currently has mk5 Golf GTi alloys (with my winters on).

He says in the Ad that the wheels are coming off his VW GOLF MK5 so any potential buyer would be best to research themselves or contact the seller.

Sorry Chris, it's you that's wrong.
I think you've just got confused with your golf marks! The current one is the mkVI. The one from 98-04 is the mkIV.

Your wheels will be from a mkIV golf.

MkIV Golf, mkI Leon, Octavia, A3 and Fabia all had 5x110 fitment alloys.

MkV Golf (which these are from), mkII Leon, Octavia and A3 all use the 5x112 fitment.

I too thought that was a bargain until I realised there were only two wheels and tyres. Kind of pointless.

Ah apologies, I thought it was a set of 4 wheels  not such a good buy after all then.

The vendor must be one of these clowns (there are many) who think its a good idea to fit winters on the driven wheels only then leave the rear end of the car susceptible to snap oversteer at any moment.

Yes, you're right, i've confused my Golfs. Thanks for correcting.
I have mk4 wheels on mine, and mk5 on wheels won't fit.

My main point was of course that these do NOT FIT ALL VW as the seller says, as a warning to any SE'r that wants winter tyres for an older Golf..
(which I also didn't realise was a set of only 2!)

Interesting column in Autocar this week by Steve Sutcliff saying that his 1M Coupe long termer was actually more fun to drive on winter tyres because it had less grip. I like the argument - winter tyres + powerful rear drive car = more sideways fun :) Doesn't say much for their safety benefits though :P

I am just glad I never removed the winters last week from the BM as I was to lazy to do so lol

/WIND UP

I was thinking of starting a thread... "Summer tyres. Discuss."

I'm sure everyone that had the foresight and safety-savy to fit them will enjoy the tower of winters replacing the tower of summers somewhere on their property for the next six months .. only to wish they still had them fitted for periods during May, June, July, August and September :damnfunny
