"I hear what your saying Mr Metro driver but after buying an Elise in 1996 I needed a change, this one is quieter, faster, comfier, and nearly the same colour."

Know what you mean Lawrence, did not need a change, just needed a twin to drive whilst mine was off the road, so got the closest that I could, one month younger, slightly different colour, and just need to remember to get in via the other door.

Another 100 miles brings me over the 200

I had to refuel on the way back tonight, There are 2 little fuel pump symbols in the stackkkk, a yellow one and a black one, so when the little black fuel pump symbol on the right turned yellow to match its twin I thought I'd reset the trip and check the reserve mileage. 5 litres I remembered, so 30 miles should be a good estimate. We were near Haddington and the Granada at Musselburgh is only 15 miles further so easy peasy lemon squeezy :)
I always like to see how much fuel I can get in any tank, so a brisk run down the A1 was needed to burn up what's left. Some cones on the slip road at the bypass made me wonder for a second, and then as I tried to enter the services I saw the road was closed, with a diversion back up to Wallyford and through Musselburgh  No thanks, I'll head on to Lothianburn Esso. Just back on the bypass and I now notice the last of my display fuel blocks have disappeared and I've 7 miles to go, down go the revs and constant throttle is the order of the day, no more squirts up the hill :) Is it miss firing? It's definitely pouring with rain, will we make it?. It was quite a long 7 miles, listening to every little noise, getting ready ready to coast as far as possible, scary stuff indeed. Worse still everyone I'd passed was repassing me :(

Well I filled the tank as much as I could, £30 of 95 ron and 34.94 litres
The tank only holds around 36
I doubt I'd have reached the end of the bypass.......

:-) Close one ...

That's much the same as EGOR. You brim the beggar and you're lucky if you make 10 miles before it flips from full to 34L.

I spent some time messing with refuelling at different points to see how well calibrated the gauge is - answer, quite good! I have also cross-checked that against my fuel consumption (which is currently about 8 miles per litre = ~36mpg) so I can convert from odometer to expected fuel remaining and I get a good correlation.

So what these cars need is a bigger filler neck like the S1 has - that holds about 5L!

It's a real hassle for the S/C cars that can do as little as 4 miles per litre when hooned on the road - total range ~140 miles!!

For FF6 I was thinking about fitting some sort of extended fuel bladder, but there isn't much you can do that also remains safe - I don't fancy being caught in an elise covered in fuel and on fire ...

Cheers,
Robin

Best I had in the Exige was 43.58L

It was reading 1/4 full and I was after considering another lap at the ring.
Pulled into the carpark and restarted and it read zero...
...coasted back to the petrol station.

Hi Ali,

How are you getting on in Nigeria?

Have you ever been to Equatorial Guinea as I will probably be there in April installing a satellite network?

Cheers,

Ken.
