I know but it's 360 miles each way for 2 hours of mapping.

In the meantime, fit a 2bular and you'll have exactly the same spec as my engine iirc. You can just use my map.

TDI don't normally work weekends mainly due to racing commitments.
Next date they have for mapping is already into August so don't hang around if you do want to use them!

Hamish bought Craig's S1 S/C Honda many years ago, it then had an accident and has never been on the road since. It has a K-Pro in it, I have borrowed parts over the years, so that could be worth looking at. You could get it mapped locally on a RR with Honda experience, then that map could be transferred later to your own K-Pro if you go that way, or sent away to one of the companies that can put it on to your standard ECU and convert it into a Hondata.
That way you avoid the travelling and time away from work, and Hamish would get his K-Pro back when he had a need for it.

Happily get a 2bular but I might need to put a cat on too - would need it for MOT time anyway I guess...

Sounds like the iacv, directly under the throttle body, why is the history of the engine, they often fill up with crap and make the idle when cold all over the place.

3.5k for an as new rebuild, no brainer IMO.
For anyone considering it I'd definitely recommend oil pump, timing chain, guides & tensioner as well as all the usual oils, filters, seals etc.
Very hard to find good 2nd hand engines - it's a bit of a lottery as to how well anything at this age has been maintained. I would imagine that most cars that are broken for spares (and there are lots of them now) are done so because they're not economical to MOT or have been written off after an accident - again as uneconomic to repair.

I'm going down to PerformanceTek in Glasgow next week for mapping, they're the only Hondata dealer in Scotland, he's apparently done quite a few k20 Elise's and certainly seems to know what he's talking about.
