I have had a couple of pics from my old 3.2MP camera blown up to 16" x 12" and they are fine. I would think A4 would be easy for anything 3MP and above but then again I am now expert, you would still need to check.

A4 is assuming that's what the size of the calendar is. Maybe I should check sizes and things out now :P

I have a 5mp SLR and also a 4mp compact, and I have no problems what so ever printing an A4 print from either. The pro photograthers on the forum may be better at confirming this , but IIRC most printing houses want files set to 300dpi. which is in the capabilities of most digital cameras. If you relax the 6mp stipulation, you may find that you get more submissions.

News just in. Desk calendars with our own prints (same size as CD box) could be produced for approx £5 per unit, if interested.

Obviously this makes pic size fairly small, so maybe better to hold out for options on something A4-sized (which, from my Dad's suppliers, would be prohibitively expensive and require minimum run of about 500-1000!!)

Though I like the idea of a desk calendar, tbh.

We could do a desk and a wall calendar I guess, no reason it can't be done.
This website has pretty decent prices:

http://www.colourdigitalprint.com/calen ... MAodJVaqtw

e.g.
13 page A3 calendar for an order of 25, total cost is £122.45 or £4.90 each
or
13 page A6 tent style desk calendar, order of 25, total cost £70.14 or £2.81 each

Those prices sound good.

Can I just check if it has to be landscape or portrait orientation? Or does it not matter? Surely the wall calander has to be portrait?? :?

Ok, seems I need to clarify things a little.

The idea of the calendar is NOT 12 pages of EVO-style shots showing off how good a 111R wheel is when it's brand new and spotless. The point behind it is to capture the spirit of SE and have a reminder of events that we have done. The reason I originally said no 'professional' or bought photos was to try and encourage people to submit their own good photos. If people want a calendar full of setup photos showing off the cars then fair enough but that's not what I think the SE calendar should be.

As for the 6MP rule, that was there as originally I thought we would have an A3 calendar and wanted the images to be as high res as possible for that. The limit I took from the rules that seloc laid out for their calendar last year. Since it looks like we'll go for a desk calendar and probably an A4 wall calendar, I think we can drop the 6MP limit down to 3MP.

right-o, I've uploaded about 10 shots from my archives...have to say, looking at the excellent quality of work submitted to date, I'm not hopeful of making the cut!

Though I'm quite pleased with two shots from this year's Leaves Run...

But no probs, nice to support the initiative. Look forward to hearing about the winners :-)

Ok, I've now locked the forum as it's past the cut-off date that was set.
I'll post again once I figure out how the pics get picked.

si,
Since Saturday's SIDC will be one of the last meets this year, should we not all consider a group photo of all the Loti for the calendar to capture the last of 2006 meets?

Possibly before everyone gets on track?
