While you are there, I would quite like the supercharger and bits, sure it wouldn't take more than 5mins to remove :thumbsup

Sorry to hear this...

Are they breaking your car or is it going to a salvage auction?

It's at a salvage auction place at the moment. They tell me that it will take some time before it goes up for auction.
Insurance company reckoned there was £19k of damage. Im surprised really as they also tell me that there was no damage to the chassis and the airbags didn't go off.

I haven't heard back from Kevin yet. I hope he's not still working on the car or this is going to cost me more than beers!

It's OK Gerard, I'm back now :D

I got the harnesses out but unfortunately wasn't able to remove the harness bar.

Removed the seats and harnesses fairly easily but couldn't get access to the harness bar mounting bolts behind the roll-cage.

It looks like the speakers, which are held in place with an unusual looking type of plastic fastener ( not the much smaller, standard plastic rivets I have in my Exige ) , would have to be removed from the plastic trim panel in order to gain sufficient space to get at the harness mounting bolts. That would require removing ( drilling out ?) the fasteners and replacing them afterwards - but there are no spares. As far as I can see the trim panel won't come out without removing the harness bar first!

The guys from the salvage yard told me to be sure I replaced all trim correctly and make sure that no holes were left - so I was stuck!

I tried calling Murray's to get Craig's advice or an alternative approach but he's on holiday for the next couple of weeks.

Anyone else want to give it a go or have any ideas how best to proceed? It's not clear to me that there would be sufficient access even with the speakers removed.

If I remember right, I accessed the mounting bolts by removing the speakers and reaching through the hole. My trim panel was held on with screws though so no issues with plastic poppers. The fun bit is trying to fit the bar and panel at the same time!

He'll be happy you got the harnesses, they're the expensive bit. :thumbsup

Top man Kevin! Much appreciated. Will settle up when I get back next month.
I'm more than happy with the harnesses. No need for anyone to spend any more time on getting the bar out.

how was the car looking? is it as bad as I remember? I was in quite a state of disbelief when I had the coming together with the armco Kevin so the only pictures im aware of are the ones the police took (for their own personnal amusement!) and a couple of grainy ones on my iphone.

Cheers

Hi Gerard,

the harnesses are here for you, nothing to settle - you can buy me a coffee in Corrieri's when you get back.

Sorry I couldn't get the bar.

I didn't look too closely at the condition of the car - although it looked OK from inside the passenger compartment, both clams, crash structure, radiators, headlights etc were totally destroyed.
The suspension mounts are probably OK although the N/S rear wheel has about 45 degrees of postive camber! Looks like the upright has been pulled off the top wishbone. To my untrained eye it looked to be a fairly big / expensive job to rebuild. My son was with me and took a couple of snaps - haven't looked at them yet but I'll get them to you.

I don't know if it makes any difference but the harness bar was factory fitted when the car was built.
