Thanks Scotty, had not forgotten, just waiting to see that the fire worked. Kept it on for a few hours and it was heating up the radiators fine, no leaks, and the flue pipes are doing their job even though I screwed up somewhere with the extension, and ended up having to join two same diameter pipes together instead of a sleeve fit. Cut eight 20mm slots in one to narrow it and fixed with fire cement.

Wondered how to drive the circulation pumps without the oil boiler being on, but just had to turn its thermostat to 0 so it would not fire up, then turn on the wall timer to continuous. Will try and jack up a tow car and trailer for the logs, what length and diameter are the tree sections?

ps:- what wood chunks that were left when I let it go out were pure jet black charcoal, I presume because of the high temp.
