Slow progress during the xmas break. Ususal story now, the smaller detail jobs take longer to complete than the major ones. Taking ages to find new old stock parts (ebay), most of the pattern stuff is very poor.

Finished at last. Took just over one year, would have been finished sooner but only managed a few hours at weekends. Need another project now.......

Amazing stuff, looks lovely. So how hard is it get it exactly back to original. Is everything available? ...and have you made any improvements along the way?

Almost everything is available (hydrolsatic suspension units are probably the most rare but mine were ok thankfully), however a lot of the aftermarket stuff is very poor quality and never fits well so I've spent a lot of time searching for new old stock parts. Everything is stock, even the much maligned 7" disc brakes that are more often than not upgraded to Cooper-S 7.5". The hydrolastic suspension is also often changed to "dry" but again I preferred to keep this original. Only non-original spec parts are the wheels but these are period after market Dunlop wheels, I just preferred the look of the slightly wider wheel.
Took some better photo's outside yesterday, not very picturesque surroundings.....

Work of Art Robin, never had one but they were my era, and great to see someone restore one to that condition, labour of love, and better still, a member of S_E.

Hope that you are going to use it, and not just garage and show it.

Cheers Tut. I'm not going to show it. I have a habit of not using my cars much unfortunately, never have much spare time but I look forward to putting some miles on this one before winter,
Robin

Looks fantastic 8) my favorite mini MK in the best factory colour combo.

Talking of period Dunlop wheels, I had a set of 10" D1 alloys for my last Mini that would have suited your cooper perfectly

Yep a set of D1's would be nice, maybe seek out a set on fleabay. Far nicer than the traditional Minilite.
