Canadian GP- May contain spoilers
Re: Canadian GP- May contain spoilers
What's surprising is the points gap at the top of the board - 7 races in, Vettel has dominated but is "only" 60 points ahead of Button who has had a good season, but nothing stellar. Of course if they continue in current form, the gap will keep widening, but for now at least the season is far from over.
WTF those guys were doing on the track whilst the cars were coming around the corner unsighted? I suspect even a low speed collision with an F1 car is going to be painful.
Cheers,
Robin

Tom Pryce in SA sprung to my mind as it happened.
UNlike the '77 incident I know there were waved yellows, I know they were behind a safety car. Even a small dunt in the pits breaks bones ..

We'll see what happens after the rule change at the British GP. Any decent driver will walk away with the championship if they are in the superior car. Vettel has also had a run of luck and reliability that could just as easily change. So yes, far from over.
I wonder how well practiced the comedy Canadian marshals are given that the circuit is a temporary track? While it was funny watching the fat bloke fall on his arse twice the consequences of him being hit by an F1 car on full chat doesn't bear thinking about for him or the driver given what happened to Tom Pryce. I did find myself shouting at the telly 'get out of the way you fat knacker' lol.

Been avoiding looking at this thread/finding out who won as i had Sky + it, only to find out it swapped to BBC2!

(that's why I think Mike will do fine, that and his lack of imagination).![]()

This thread definitely does now contain spoilers.
This is an email received from someone I know that went to the Canadian GP with his dad...

We then left our seats pretty sharpish as had to get back to the hotel which takes about an hour - walking and on the tube. We were allowed onto the track which doesn’t really happen at Silverstone anymore so that’s always nice. Was walking down the straight from turn 1 to turn 2 where Nick Heidfeld had had his big crash where his wing flipped under his car. Was keeping an eye for any debris and walked over to a hole in the fence where there were two marshalls. Stuck my head over and sat there were the remains of Heidfeld’s wing. Without even thinking about it I was like – thats mine!! Grabbed it and walked off – dad was absolutely hosing himself!!
So we’re walking along and I sh*t you not – hundreds of people were coming up to me to look at it, touch it, have photos with me, have photos with the wing, chat to me, congratulate me, try and buy it off me - it was hilarious!! Bit of a long story but I got it back on the tube (it weighed an absolute ton!!) and managed to find a shop which sold packing tape and some old boxes. Dad and I then went and found a quiet corner in the hotel, packed it as best we could in the limited time we had, have a shower in the spa, repack our bag and leave for the airport. Getting to the airport was a bit of a pain as the wing wouldn’t fit across the back seat (its about 5 feet wide) so we had to have the seats down. Then we managed to check it in and put in through outsize baggage but not before totally wrapping it in air Canada tape!!
We then went through and there were a stack on people from the teams milling about – went and had a chat to Alonso, Ross Brawn (technical director Mercedes), Sam Michael (technical director williams) and Rob Smedley (massa’s race engineer) plus saw a stack of other people.
Then home and the wing came through no probs. Was a bit nervous as was surrounded by f1 people and you shouldn’t really take that stuff but it was ok. It came though at the same time as what looked like some wings Williams had sent through – in their gleaming aluminium cases etc, then there’s mine in cardboard and air Canada tape!!

I would have had to post it home - don't think I would have had the bottle to take it to an airport full of F1teams heading home.

That. Is. Awesome!!!!!!
Re: Canadian GP- May contain spoilers
It is somewhat ironic that it says FiA Action for Road Safety on it given that it caused Heidfeld to crash his car.
Good find. I have a rear wing endplate from a McLaren that I found at Silverstone a number of years ago. The people camping in the tent beside also came back after first days practice with a more or less complete front nose cone from a Ferrari that they 'found' and a damaged wheel and tyre from a Benetton that they were 'given'.
