[quote="max1966"]But have you considered a Cayman, I still think it is the most overlooked Porsche, decent value and has the mid engined characteristics of the Exige.

Very valid point - tried one when i was changing my 111r and loved it

Tyres, £1k etc. Still it does have to be done at some stage. Also has to be one of the the ugliest Ferraris of the last 20 years. I prefer the back of it to the front!
!
Independent should be cheaper.
Not sure people are as bothered about main dealers on these ages of Ferrari's these days?
I think the 360 spyder is rather nice, goes and sounds lovely too.

I tried one and found it too competent / old man. Horses / courses.
Also Andy, you say 1k for tyres. How much are 4 good tyres for exige / GT3 / 7 series?

Hey, I'm happy with the tyre bill for my cars. Not everyone is though. Exige tyres I can get for £500 or less, Gt3 will be £800 ish, and 7 series will be back with BMW Leasing before they need replaced

Dont think he's considering any of these though?????
My last 430 tyres where £800+ VAT at the tyre guys cost (no mark up). Dealer was £1500+
Just pointing out some running costs, and the tyres are the least of your worries running a prancing horse

The reason I mentioned GT3 etc was one of curiosity since he had porka on a possibles list. (not necessarily GT3, I can't remember)
If he is considering Astons etc I would imagine he can budget for £800 set of tyres. Bearing in mind hot hatch tyres are easily £150 for top brand (minimum £100) then £800 to £1000 for fez tyres aint too bad.

Have you checked?
Not sure what your point was?
Either way tyres are going to be more, and just one of many higher costs than running the current Exige.

No, I am basing that on the cars he is considering
I don't have a point. Merely a question of curiosity since I am not in a fortunate enough position to have GT3 etc
Back on topic then...

No, competent is my Fabia Vrs, had to get a Skoda reference in
And I resemble that, old man, pah.
I'm happy with my rattle free, shiny, solidly built, comfortable barge of a Cayman.

if evolution don't take care of it, redesign it

I have priced the proper tyres for the rear of my 911. 19" = £700 per pair.
I think the aston wears the same on the rear so similar type of cost.
Agree with others the tyres are not gonna be the most expensive of items on these cars.
I see a few agree with me on the 911, but something that is default is that as a minimum, people say get an S.
My opinion? Dont, what you should do is buy a Gen2 C2 and forget the S. The C2 Is only 10bhp down on the Gen 1 S and its got the facelift and all the goodies including the touch screen multimedia PCM 3 or whatever.
If you can get a Gen2 S though then fair play, go for it, but my point is I would advise buying as new as possible and get the Gen2 over the Gen1 S.
But if you get into GT3 talk then I will officially be very very jealous.

A friend of mine is selling his 997 C2S with gt3 kit, that would be a massive upgrade imo. Just had 4 new tyres
How much would you be selling the exige for?
S1 Elige Audi 1.8T
S1 Elise Honda K20
VW T6.1 family bus
