Hello peeps,

An update, hopefully a little less vague...a little while the Audi incounter I was contacted be Lothians & Borders Firearms Dept regarding said incounter. Since the very tragic shooting incidents of late they requested a meeting its standard now... As a holder of both certificaits and require them for work I was keen to assist them in any way.

So this morning 15mins early I rung the bell and Mags and I had a rather usfull chat. The half hour required meeting lasted less than ten mins and the Firearms gents were fine with my side of the story .. both parties were happy on the out come and off I went home in better spirits .

Collected my Legal Docs this morning and off to coart 10th Oct.

One thing sorted another to go..

Were you tooled up in the car when they stopped you? I thought it was careless driving you were facing not arms charges?

Correct sir, it was the "rather" quick speed recorded that deemed it to be dangerous , I was told Lewis Hamilton would have required the same ....

Hi all,

Had a chat with a few law companys regarding my situation, infact I felt like I was being bombarded with their calls TBO:? ,its intresting how one or two fancy outfits would be quite happy to make me few grand lighter plus VAT for an outcome that if you paid thousands you would expect to be still driving as if nothing had happened ... I suspect regardless of how many thousands spent the actual result may be would be no better than if I were to represent myself  .

So,
As I don't have that kind of cash to throw away right now!!, yesterday found a local guy who speaks my language, shot straight from the hip and spelt out where I am..., the actuall speed is between 85 tuts and 109tuts in a 60tuts, the speed its self is not the real although inportant factor, its some of the other issues which have to be picked through which made him say this is an intresting one?? .Worst case Jail....as its the lower end of offence, not in this case.

To be expected, one year ban, fine and a test resit...So its damage limitation my man is to contact the fiscal today and and see if if he can work out a lesser charge although accepting the speed driven and work through the charge from there.

 Ouch - hope your guy can sort it for you.
A ban is a hard outcome to deal with.

It amazes me that junkies in a stolen cars speeding and crashing get sentences that are no worse than an upright law abiding citizen who in a moment of madness / weakness goes over the limit causing no ' damage' other than the actual speed.

Good luck - keep us appraised of how it goes.

Noops

Can I ask or would you mind disclosing (by PM) what is deemed dangerous?
The speed in itself isn't dangerous and with a realistic chance (from your original post) of a Newton Plea, it could be reduced below 100tuts. This in effect, whilst still be considerably over the 60 limit, would only demand a ban with a max of 56 days. Can even be argued to points.
