Well done :thumbsup

See you at KH

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.

Couple of questions now........

What tyre pressure should i be running a, on road b, on track?
I am wanting to get the Geo checked, what setting for road/track use? Should i get the upgraded toe links before this and before i track it? On Yoko Advan tyres LTS.
What brake pads are tried and tested? Have use Carbotechs XP8's on my last 2 cars and found them pretty impressive, like wise discs, ones fitted are drilled. Last year on FF7 i managed to crack a pair on the S2000 on the first day so not that keen on them TBH
What else do i need to be doing before FF8? Oil, filters?

:cheers
Looking good 8)

I had T1-Rs and I think I ran them at 23/24. If running at 27, keep an eye on them as they may wear rather quickly in the centre of the tyre.

I used mintex 1144 on FF7 last year and they were a hoooge improvement of the greenstuffs.

The original discs on these cars were indeed cross drilled. I would get the wheels off, front and rear, and check the inside of the disks in particular. On my S1 they began to kind of delaminate between some of the holes on the inside with small surface cracks reaching from one whole to the next. On the S2 exige I had the same cross drilled discs and they had the appearance that they may well do the same thing. On the S1 I had EBC Turbogroove and they were fine. I have just put EBC Ultimax discs on the exige with yellowstuff pads. Too early to tell what the performance is, but should know after the SIDC :) .

I am with Campbell on the use of the cat. I had exactly the same issues when I ran a CRP

Brake fluid may be worth doing if it's not been done in the past 12 months or so. Rear towing eye. You should be able to get one of eBay for a few quid. It simply uses one of the undertray bolts. Driving lamp covers are a good investment.

Cheers again guys :thumbsup

Will be getting braided lines and some RBF660 no matter what, ever since i boiled my brake fluid in my S3 at KH every car has been done

Will i need upgraded toe links with road tyres, thinking probably yes just in case. Not really wanting to run R tyres as i think they will take some of the fun away from the car with it only having 140 odd bhp. As you said Shug the LEDA's seem pretty good to my untrained Ass  Are they adjustable BTW?

Campbell, my Blueflame has only been on 3 years so may well of changed a bit since yours was fitted. As for the Carbonair, it is a induction kit, sorry.

Still tempted to try the Cats to see for myself  Is it a big job to change?

:cheers

I have had two sets of Ledas on N1 before I went over to Nitrons. They were OK whilst they lasted, but needed rebuilding too often. Sold one set and still have the other festering in the garage.

They are adjustable, they have a largish vertical adjusting wheel that is easier to get at than the Nitrons.

The newer blueflame still sounds lovely, perhaps a little louder especially with no cat, but has a much smaller can to make fitting etc a bit more straightforward. If / when my original b-f finally lets go, I'll be looking at those fairly seriously! Though I have a feeling Fergus has something stainless steel rattling around his garage and if it's still there when the time comes...

Just interested in the Carbonair if it were mated to a std airbox in some way, presume the airbox is replaced by it though?

Firstly check that you can turn the adjusters and you are getting positive clicks. Then turn them through the whole range from soft to hard. This is from many years ago, Nitrons are 24 clicks, Ledas are the same or 12. If they will not move then try using adjustable pliers. There are + and - signs on them but I think soft is full anti clockwise.

If this works then as starting settings try mid point then two clicks towards soft.

Managed to sneak onto the SIDC track day this morning for the last 2 hours. Cheers John :thumbsup

Understeer!!!!!!!!

Was running the tyre pressures at 24psi hot. But in fairness i have not had the geo checked so it could be way out. It was pretty slidy out there as it was wet but there was just no turn in at all really, I know its going to be a little different from the S2000 but come on

Could it be that the suspension is to stiff for wet track days? Its on LEDA's BTW

Will get the geo checked and set to standard settings and go from there.

:(

I said this on frolic, and i'll say it again. Your driving stylee needs a few subtle tweaks for the elise. I.E turning in, and stomping on the throttle wont give you oversteer, it'll cause understeer

edited to add. Of course, your car may have a problem, and its always hard to diagnose these things on the internet. Happy to help if i can.

Also, my old S1, way back in the early days on road tyres and normal suspension, used to oversteer in the dry, and understeer in the wet. By the time i had ended up fine tuning the chassis, it oversteered wildly whilst parked

Hey Mike,

Looked for you in the pits..didnt realize you were out on track!!

Congrats again on the car, would think you'll need to get a run in the dry to see how it is before changing anything as KH was super slippy today in the last 45 minutes.

Take care,

Frank
