OK someone care to enlighten me (pardon the pun) what are the 'follow me home' headlights referred to in the spec?
Simple - The headlights stay on for a few minutes after you've exited / locked to the car, to enable you to find your way up a dark drive / path to your door...(they don't do this as default...I think you have to pull the indicator stalk back once to activate, before you lock the car... :) )

Found a website selling a brand spanking new '58' plate Panda 100HP from £7.7k ordered to your spec...
Seems a cracking deal....have heard that website being mentioned on Autocar.

There are some motors out there depreciating that figure every couple of months... :(

Go for it.......If your Local Arnold C can't match it

I worry about you sometimes...You must have a special search engine for the lewd...

Anyway, *big* thanks to Peter & Kevin last night for letting me have a drive of their Panda 100HP's - Very, very much appreciated! :thumbsup

What a fun little car - I'd describe the performance as 'nippy', rather than 'fast', but once up to speed, it was easy to maintain down twisty wet roads due to the enormous amount of grip these cars have...I think once you'd got used to the handling capabilities, you'd give an Elise a very hard time on a streaming wet road, and the Elise driver would need to be fairly committed to stay ahead...They really are that good...(The standard fit Goodyear Eagle F1's no doubt help too...Good wet tyre...)

Interesting to compare the differences between the two 'identical' cars - Peter's brakes were over servoed in a major way, comapred to Kevin's car - Although I'm sure this is something you'd just get used to in time...

Only slight downside to the car was the crashy ride - They're very stiffly sprung, and potholes / significant bumps are felt in a big way...Although having owned an Elise with Nitrons jammed on 'full hard', I'm sure I could live with it...

In all they seem a serious bargain, with a new one costing £8k... :)

Looking at a Mini next, but it's going to be a tough decision to make... :?

Cheers,

Ross.

P.S. Someone buy my Alfa...

Sold the Alfa today, and picking up my new...

Panda 100HP this afternoon...There must be at least five of us now, on SE, who own these little hooligan mobiles... :thumbsup

Need to start a sub-group, I think...

(BTW Did try the Mini, and it was a fantastic little car, amazingly well appointed...But didn't seem to have the same chuckability / grin factor of the Fiat, and was good few £££ more...)

Cheers,

Ross.

Absolutely nowt!

Let's remember...the original was designed to solve a problem. The impostor was designed to fulfil a fashion statement :-)

I'd happily have the impostor on my drive any time though.

However I am watching this Panda 100sauce debate with interest for future x-reference........

And yes we can of course have a new sub-forum for you wee puddle-jumpers ;-)

Nothing. Think of it as good ordinary car and it starts to make sense. As a mini it doesn't at all.

The real new mini is IMO the Qi that Toyota will be launching soon.

The new Clubman is 3937 mm, original Range Rover is 4470 mm.

But your point is valid. All cars (not just Mini's) have grown, dictated by modern crash standards and customer demand for more interior space. A new Polo is bigger than a Mk1 Golf.

I've read about a £10k+ price tag for this car. The original Mini was affordable transport for the masses, I don't quite see this car fitting in with that ethos. Ironically, it seems to be trying to tap into the premium small car category created by the new Mini. Does look really cool though :thumbsup

In terms of packaging, I think the original A Class is the most revolutionary car of modern times (possibly of all time). Shorter than a Ford Ka but with E Class rear leg room and crash safety standards.

It's a 2007 car, so actually cost a good bit less than £6k...Serious bargain material...

Would seriously consider a Panda 100HP to replace the Puma, sounds like a great wee car from all accounts. Sounds like there are some bargains to be had as well, just a bit out my price range unfortunately... Couldn't have imagined myself 5 years ago being keen on a Fiat Panda though
