Try using tversity to stream from your PC to your PS3, I find handles all formats when the PS3 cant read them directly.

Interesting, I am been toying with the idea of running a dedicated media server for the past few weeks now. but it doesn't have Linux support (my spare PC runs linux)

anyone got any other suggestions or should I just bung windows on it and then run harmony on it too http://www.domialifestyle.com/Harmony2.asp

Am liking the look of Harmony2 , some really cool features in there ! ... maybe a bit overkill for streaming media only to a PS3 mind you :) but that's worth a look for other home projects. Would be interested to know how you get on with it.

Robin, you'll be crying now that 'Sir' Terry Wogan's gone - I'm sure that young ruffian Chris Evans isn't a patch on the old blarney stone kisser.

For Sanjoy or anyone else who is up on popcorn hours. I bought a A-110 about a year ago from AMP3, however could never really get to grips with it and sold it on before i got it to work properly. Am not very technical and don't have a home network set up, was wanting a storage system for viewing all my movies with i have 'backed up' in ISO form on an external hard drive. Really just wanted something that worked easily out of the box and that i wouldn't need an IT degree to set up. Are the new popcorn hours any easier to work or is there anyone/company that could come and install and set up such a system?

Gooldie mate, you really should have got in touch with us instead of selling it on - we've got some very knowledgeable guys about these things and we'd have been happy to talk you through it. Part of the service you get from us.

I'm not an expert in video ripping, but I think the issue is more to do with your use of ISOs - which are just disc images really. The actual movie files are stored within these.

*edit* having asked someone, the player should have been able to play ISOs fine, just as if the disc was in a player. There would have been a simple issue with your hard drive connection to the A-110 (it not reading the files properly) - if you want to try again, we can work it through no problem. TBH, I find that it's easier to have a drive installed in the PCH and just copy to it - saves either network drive activity, leaving PCs on or having external drives sitting by the TV.

Thanks shug, there was nothing wrong with the product I think i just under estimated what i needed ie a proper home network. Where the popcorn hour was going in the lounge was just about out of range of my wireless router and i tried in vain trying to set up a link with my router using network plugs, ran out of time, patience and skill!

Think ideally what i need is a company/person to set me up a proper home network and show me how to use it, a laptop, PS3, Apple Mac mini and none of them are linked to each other am sure i could have a an excellent network, just no idea where to start.

After sitting looking at the popcorn hour for 4 months doing nothing i thought that i was crazy just to have it lying about doing nothing so sold it on.

Yup no issues with ISO playing etc. Actually planning a disk upgrade on it so that I can start shutting down server & NAS at home to save power.
