Your posts, along with the 'recent road run' event have certainly focused my thoughts to get some advanced tuition. I don't consider that I am a bad driver (who does), and I will still want to 'make significant progress' on the tight & twisty's, but there will be things that the guys at IAM etc will be able to make that safer.

Years ago when working for Johnson & Johnson Medical, they insisted on all employees driving company cars went on a 4hr 'Drive n Survive' course - they didn't bother to much about speed but assessed the driving standard .... whilst overtaking in the slug of a Cavalier, I couldn't pull in quick enough before the solid white line. I only clipped with 2 wheels and though should have been ok, but that act would have cost me 3 points if the rozzers had seen it

Seriously thinking this could be a great 2012 challenge for all SE members to be IAM trained ??

Here's a thought, once completed . can I have following after my name . . . "I AM certified" Wife says I've been that for years  (or I should have been years ago !)
Parko thanks for the :thumbsup

The very fact your thinking about IAM or any thing else off the back of my situation is :thumbsup for me... I'm now up for more training advanced further advanced etc, its not about showing off its about being safe. I would like to say being an Elise driver has also helped me put me in a good driver mode ....I was just unlucky to be caught.

I would recommend Institute of Advanced Motorist training. Teaches you so much about reading the road and anticipating / forward planning on the road. Despite what people think it isn't all wheel shuffling and they do encourage you to make the most of the road conditions and press on when appropriate - although all within the legal limits.
Can also help to bring down your insurance with some companies.

I have been contemplating a refresher course at some stage as it is quite a few years since I passed it.

Really not too sure Neil, rest assured I'll be interrogating Campbell face to face once I recieve the angle poise lamp!

{Parko thinks  } "Face to face".... of course :D , otherwise my comments could be construde as liable, which could then quickly degrade into a witch-hunt over the next 8 pages  ONLY JESTING FOLKS :damnfunny :damnfunny

The fact that there are no innocent parties here means just one thing...."guilty as charged" Ian(Me), Campbell and Neil (Ooooops Noops . . not heard that for a while eh? LOL :D
