I agree with the mentality that you should NEVER take your Lotus near this lot...BUT it is the most entertaining spectating I have ever had at Knockhill and would recommend that everyone go and see it, unless they've totally calmed it down now. Neds (not that all of them are) are a pain in the arse but always highly entertaining....from a distance!Never been up there to spectate a hot hatch day (and not sure i'll ever bother now!)

But I agree with later posts, makes for incredible value entertainment...from the spectators' side of the fence only! You also don't get much track time if you do enter, too much queueing in the paddock etc. SIDC day is much better VFM and hugely lesser risk.

I took N1 TUT on a Hot Hatch day some time ago.
Twas a hoot, but stay well clear. One look at my bodywork and they knew that they aint going to scare me off, plus I loved being able to overtake anywhere.
However the big drawback is the number that turn up, around 150 in Summer, with 10 min sessions, so a complete waste of time.
But I know Ian, Wullie, Sasha, and most of the marshallers quite well by now, so was able to go out when I wanted to, but it was a one off, and would not do it again.

It's anything goes, some of the antics are unbelievable. As mentioned before it can be great entertainment if you're on the right side of the barriers, but even then there are some you have to watch out for! The guy in the Focus was driving like an idiot, but then he wasn't the only one

Was trying to locate any pictures or videos of the really early Hot Hatch Days from late 90s. That was my first introduction to them, and the standard both of vehicles and driving were way, way higher. They have simply degenerated into demolition derbies, but if that's what you're into, so be it. The biggest concern is lack of regard for others on track, of course. All that said, there *are* some good drivers in amongst them who'd probably be racing proper if they had the budget!

I am also one of the few that have taken their Elise out on a hot hatch day. I had a ball and probably the best value session I have had but that's because they changed it to open track after about an hour of 20 minute sessions and the entry fee was low. However you had to accept that anything goes. The corners were conned which made for some interesting late braking. I think I learned more about braking in the track day than all the others put together. By the last hour there was only myself and Dave in his Exige who had ended up also venturing on when he saw how much fun I was having. Luckily I ended the session in one peace and although I enjoyed it, I never went on one again.
Good advice from everybody to avoid it and do an SIDC day instead.

Wow, that Chavalier looked pretty damn dangeous, still I like the idea of 2 of them obviously buying the same car for a 'race' on a hot hatch day. Shame that guy had to be a fool about it!
