That's great that eh... someone sitting miles away with a photo is in a better position to judge, despite a technician looking at it personally and advising the clutch is fine....

If they don't honour it then I'd be asking for them to put that in writing along with their reasons/proof. Then it might be time to start making demands/complaints or even Trading Standards/Legal advise if you are able to get a 2nd opinion that their reasons don't stack up.

Get them to get their own arses up to MMC to look at it.

I think Greg was kidding (a bit) There will be time served Lotus Mechanics at a main dealer - it's not company policy for customers to get names and info I'd assume.

Looks like my pessimistic postings earlier on in this thread are coming true.....

Like the rest have said, keep it friendly at the moment and ask for things in writing - I would be getting stuff faxed to me as its always too easy for people to not have said things on the phone, its something I always do in day to day business as once its in black and white it cant be changed.

Get a contact at Lotus and call them directly; they will have a customer liaison there for situations like this.

sorry greg didny mean to address you in such a manner

well...i just called lotus custumer service directly and had a chat with someone . The main man wasnt in there but someone else spokek to me .

I told them I wasnt to chuffed with the situation, especially the fact that a mechanic has the car infront of him , though someone with some photos is in a better position to make the call. He agreed with me and said he will speak to the main man once hes back tomorow. As far as the standing starts go , holding the revs above 4 1/2 rpm for more than 5 secs then dipping the clutch in is deemed abusive driving. I am cool there , as i aint done anything near that. he said basically it all comes down to how the guy before has drivin the car , which is pure sh*t if you ask me . Apparently its had no track days . The guy did seem genuine enough and has done everything spot on ( receipts n all) .You can tell the car has been well looked after from looking at it anyway . But who am i to say .

If it doesnt go my way , then i will be asking for everything in writing .

gonna try and find the sellers number now and give him a call .

jama - quickly get onto these guys. They have a wealth of info for you. They sound like lawyers when you phone up and speak to them. they really know their stuff.

I hope you have stamina because it may (at least seem) to end up being a relentless battle to get this sorted under your terms but keep at it. And keep the communications flowing, backed up in black and white. Summers nearly up....so good luck bud.

thanks for that site michael. quite interesting gonna call them tomorow.

Just left a message with the guy who sold me the car . He called me back which was re-assuring on its own . Definitly had no track days and doesnt recall ever doing any rediculous standing starts, seems a decent enough bloke he suggests i get a bit more agressive with Lotus .

I am working late most nights and cant make it up to MMC , my old man runs his own firm and has a fair bit of knowledge with warrenty issues ,he is gonna go up and see them in next few days.

I am off too america on 25th , hope its all sorted by then or it will no doubt spoil my holiday :(

Jama,

I had warranty issues with Lotus/MMC when I bought my car. I was getting nowhere with it until the original owner (who was a decent bloke) got on the phone to Lotus and (for whatever reasons) they sorted it out straight away and sent MMC a fax telling them to complete the work under warranty.

So, maybe worth asking the original owner if he could talk to Lotus direct, they might listen to him...worth a try.

thanks steve thats another option i can take. Ideally the ecu reading will be fine and they will have no option but to sort it . However if it turns out the guy previous to me has been whorin it about then its gonna be more difficult but i will still fight on

Don't be too spooked about them sending the photo's away - it's standard procedure. We even do it at work with Jet engines despite having more experience on the engines we do than anyone else.

You could ask them for a copy of the pics.... and maybe even post them up here if you think that'd help/put your mind at ease a bit.

The problem has been reported to them now though......civil law is all about what is reasonable!

I'm gonna get slapped for this........(brave pill)......I've always found John at MMC very good at sorting stuff for me.......one way or another.......and I've been over there plenty! And again on fri actually!

I've always dealt with them in person tho!

I suspect the problem lies with lotus themselves as MMC won't do the work until lotus confirm that they will collect the bill for it!

Let the abuse commence!
