Be careful it doesn't catch on the offending vehicle though! heheBlaque wrote:My tip for cyclists commuting is to have a large lock and chain carried on the right-hand side of the handle bar. It's amazing the space drivers will give you when it starts to swing
A swift kick from a SPD shod shoe creates space too (only buses so far!)!
Usually involves a debate at the next set of lights though!
I must confess, my attitude does stink - no point in denying it, but at least i'm honest about it. My driving instructor knows it, my girl knows it, all my family know it - I can't help it, I am just an impulsive impatiant tw@t.NOOPS 160 wrote: Interesting attitude from someone who is still a learner ....![]()
I am fairly confident that I know when to chill out and take it easy though, I am a little wreckless but I don't feel i'm ever dangerous to myself or others.
By accepting my weakness in attitude, I will always bear it in mind when driving.

Extremely quick as much as legally possible.
As soon as Greenways becomes active I am looking at a jorney time of 25 to an hour depending on how close to the 8.40ish rush I am.
If I walk to the bus stop which takes 6 or so minutes, I am looking at a maximum wait of 5 minutes and a journey time of approximately 20 minutes.
Early morning car it is!

Edit: Forgot this is a public forum, removed actual estimated time pre 7:15am

I get the distinct feeling that you lot are all pretty easy going and it sounds like most of you take it easy on the roads, or at least are safe when pushing it?NOOPS 160 wrote: Fair comment , not trying to be condescending or smart in my reply , however you will find that in SE there are some of the best and most considerate drivers to drive with![]()

And if I am correct (someone please tell me different ) that most TT cars covered around 800miles this weekend and around 60 cars turned up to the eventwith no off road incidents ..... Which considering the style and nature of driving is truly amazing
I suppose I have the "new driver" attitude, young and cocky - I don't want to have it but something about the car makes me think "Aren't I a smart arse

I need to learn to control my big ego on the road, before it gets the better of me. I am well aware of it, so start from there!
I still maintain whilst I am slightly wreckless and a little cocky, I do stay within safe limits.

Why would anyone not be safe whether "pushing it" or not on public roads?

Maybe a different choice of words required on your part. And maybe waiting till you pass your test and have experience before ranting on about other road users and their driving standards

I have no idea, but I had a Red Subaru up my arse a few weeks back, he was certainly pushing it, and he nearly ended up in a head on collision due to his not being safe. For the record I was within 60mph limit, and not rising to his bait. I think this angered the fool, and he overtook on a blind summit and nearly painted the road a dark red colour.MacK wrote: Why would anyone not be safe whether "pushing it" or not on public roads?

Agree, a poor choice of word. And I have ranted about cyclists for more than 10 years as a passenger, I have ranted about boy racers for more than 10 years as a passenger. Getting a set of L plates does not take away my ranting rightsMacK wrote: A dictionary definition of reckless "Reckless suggests wild carelessness and disregard for consequences"![]()
