Late Xmas present............
Cowan drove the car up this morning, and I must say that it exceeded expectations.
He had polished it, and apart from the inevitable few paint chips on the front, the paintwork is immaculate. Will post a few pics tomorrow.
I thought I knew the spec, but the essentials that were missing, braided clutch hose, braided brake lines, and most important of all, the upgraded rear toe link set, I had just ordered from Geary. However a quick check of the car when he arrived showed that they had all been fitted, so I cancelled the order. Plus the rear subframe, my only real worry, is fine.
Took him for a drive around the local roads before we went to Craigs, not too fast as sitting on the other side and changing gear with the right hand takes a bit of getting used to, but I still swear that he had his eyes closed at times.
She drives beautifully, no crash, bang, wollops that I am used to when you go over road defects. Power seems similar, we both have JDM engines, gear change good, but I need to shorten the gear lever tomorrow, but for a ten year old car she drives like new.
The Janspeed is coming off though, and I will fit my Larini whilst N1 TUT is off the road.
Twas good to see Cowan again, he really is a good guy. Although I feel that I have robbed him, as he left home at 0330 this morning he was starving, so I served him up bacon, eggs, sausages, tattie scones, and that went down well.
It was a gorgeous day today so the roof came off as soon as he arrived, and after three months off the road, it was great to get back out again. Cowan then realised that he was buying an Exige, so is already planning to buy a soft top conversion so that he can take the tin roof off.
I will be out early morning tomorrow, great to feel excited again, but then as we all know, that is what the Elise is all about.

Thanks Lawrence. Twas actually a silly situation. When Cowan contacted me, all I was concerned with was posting the details on S_E so somebody could snap it up. Obviously LHD knocks its value down here, but not in Europe, and I knew that it would be bought straight away.
Nobody responded, which is when I had the silly idea of buying it myself. It really was a no lose situation, and you would not believe the number of e-mails and phone calls that I have had since had offering to relieve me of it at a big premium. (Sorry Cowan if you are reading this)
However I have no intention of buying it to sell it on at profit, I will enjoy it, and when N1 TUT is back on the road, it will mean that I always have a seviceable car.

Good stuff! I always found LHD fun to drive, there is nothing more exciting than trying to change gear and opening the door instead or pulling on the handbrake and finding the window open, kept me amused for ages....

How hard could it be to convert back?
With a bit of Dom&Thinforth engineering & Robin for the clever bits.
Might need a new rack, the throttle runs centrally through the car and I'd imagine the clutch and brake operate a bar which runs to the masters in their UK position.
Dash might be a sticking point though - but I'm sure one of those could be sourced.....
Be great for Stelvio though

No trust me as somone with 2 british cars they normally come out in sympathy if one breaks the other one will always join inmac wrote:Tut,
You now have an reliable elise - no matter what engine is in the back the only real way to have reliability in what is a hand built car is to have two![]()

As to Dom & thinfourth engineering i don't think Tut wants to let two loonys equipped with forklift trucks and sledgehammers fix his car
Aw, I was sure you'd bought N2 TUT as well, that's a pity. The vision of N1 and N2 side by side in your driveway just about makes my eyes water!tut wrote:Paul
N2 TUT came up a few years ago and I thought about buying it then, but it has now gone.
However N3 TUT is there for £245 which would keep it in the family.

N3 isn't a bad substitute mind you.
Though Clare may want her own plate! C 1 ARE will surely have sold by now, for scary money.
