Don't rule out some north loop laps entirely, I've done 50 odd laps and never had insurance. Some of the best fun of my life. Risky but fun. :)

In the case of the Ring I'd say the risk is a lot more than a little.

But each to their own ...

I thought it would of been taking the last corner flat while we were trying to beat Andy's time lol

Good times!

OMG the Pre-Trip SAGA is epic!

Well to say this has been an utter ballache for both myself and the mighty Moncrieff is an understatement!

Craig has squeezed me in for a C service, all good! Well that grew some arms and legs lol, glad he spotted all he did before my trip as I'd not have got far otherwise...

So car was in C service, All fluids, Oil and filter, Gear oil, Coolant, brake/clutch fluid, was told the fluids that were taken out were in a right state so glad it was all done! spark plugs, all belts changed, tensioner, water pump changed, fuel filer... Craig mentions alternator is goosed and noisy so a new one is fitter rear pads and discs were screwed, back if disc was smooth and a huge lip, they were originally grooved, looked OK from the outside so glad he spotted that too! The handbrake cable was split so replaced and a front ball joint was worn so also replaced

All good so far..... I drove the car home on Saturday and thought gear change was a bit sticky put it down to the new oil MTF94, fitted a new head unit so that I could have hands free in the car and DAB to make my commute more bearable and be able to talk to the wife and kids while on track

Any how I got in the car to go to work this morning and i reversed into the neighbour's drive to turn my car, The car did not want to come out of reverse, eventually with some bruit force I managed to get on my way, then I had a client meeting at 12,45... got there with a box that felt like I had to shove bricks out of the way to engage any gear, not good! So a call to Craig sees me take the car to him.. When I got to the gyle roundabout I have the clutch in, car in 2nd and revs drop to like 500 rpm, take my foot off the brake and car edges forward, revs rise, brakes on again revs drop to 500rpm, clutch is still on the floor! hmmmm the clutch is not engaging fully is my thought, bite point is about 2" off the floor so about a quarter pedal which I thought was OK??

Anyway the mighty Moncrieff has stepped up again, problem diagnosed as a worn clutch pressure plate so a new clutch is going in tomorrow and I'm away on Wednesday morning... talk about cutting it fine!

So thanks to Craig and his team who have practically renewed my car in a matter of days :thumbsup Top work

The problem is that the clutch is not DIS engaging. Even with the pedal down, the clutch is still connecting the gearbox input shaft to the flywheel and so the car is rolling forward.

There are two causes, either the gubbins in the bell housing has failed (clutch pressure plate or the release bearing) OR there is air in the hydraulic circuit.

Cheers,
Robin

That said I did think the release bearing was making a noise before, there was a drone that went away when the clutch was pressed, that may make sense now! :thumbsup Either way peace of mind on the trip is just about there..... Not much time for a shake down, but glad these things were caught before I boarded the ferry

Then it is the clutch - and you have had a lucky escape!

Mine failed the morning of one French Frolic - Calum replaced it in about 3 hours (with help) and I made the ferry by the skin of my teeth :-)

I'd genuinely be stuffed on this trip if it wasn't for Craigs eagle eyed crew! I just hope they spot the brake pads in the boot and the postie drops off my new gear cables early tomorrow lol........

I wonder if the eagle eyed magician can pull that lot off?? He'll need to magic some time from nowhere, I'll not count my chickens but may just cross my fingers, I think he'd lamp me if I ask him to do any more than he already so kindly has :blackeye

:cheers

Even more issues sorted by Craig!! I cannot believe the lengths Craig has and is going to to ensure I get away on this trip!!

This is WAAAY ABOVE AND BEYOND! So Clutch was grabbing yesterday, gear box was not going into gear.... So Craig last min is popping a new clutch in, good lad!

BUT!! When the box is out, I get a call, Box is fcuk  Something has collapsed inside hence it didn't want to go into gear   The Gentleman that is Craig says, I'll just pop another one in for you...... F me the man needs a halo. truly sent from above.... I will be going to the Ring and Spa

THANK YOU CRAIG and yer CREW! :thumbsup :thumbsup

:cheers
