I agree with your sentiment too Dom the Exige is so much more than the Elise that it really is a separate model and the Esprit is probably a relevant comparison. Even in size the difference between an Elise and a V6 Exige is amazing.
I'm not saying they aren't priced in alignment with the current market, just that it's far more than I would currently consider spending on any car. In different circumstances I'd probably have another opinion, for now it's old motors for me.

As ever, preowned examples are there to be had for less and bought carefully, can offer all the same experiences but without the depreciation hit.

Can't think of many circumstances where we'd buy new now ...

I thought that too Campbell but £6k loyalty saving, 50/50 0% deal with 3 years warranty and free servicing was enough to tempt me back in March :thumbsup

Yup. I'll give you that one!

Nearly 7 years now since our deal of the century on the Octavia. We weren't buying new then either...until the dealer came up with something special to shift a final unit of stock :-)

Won't be buying new to replace the Evora either.

Might get tempted by a runout model when the latest Octavia gets a face-lift. We'll see...

So given the new 350 is lighter than the CUP 360, does that mean CUP cars after the current 360 batch of 50 will be even lighter?

Love the look of the 350 and it is great to see Lotus back to their core values of simplicity and adding lightness. Want one :-)

The new cup car looks like it's more of a road car than track car now. Mine came with everything that is now in the option list for the new car. Also the new Cup has a radio FFS, no extinguisher or cut off, GRP seats, non removable steering wheel etc etc.
Looks like they have softened the cup a fair bit which as a consequence it's heavier.
