Agree DJ. Not a lot in it. Though if starting from the styx, or needing to be there before 10am, and the train gets tricky. I do like its simplicity though.
Back in my chauffeuring days I once dropped some clients at Glasgow airport for their private jet flight to Edinburgh - on phoning into the office to confirm the booking for the car at Edinburgh, I was told I was that car!.. don't hang about!. I pulled up at the tarmac at Edinburgh airport at the jet taxied in. When the clients came off, they looked a bit bemused

If you ware glasses they are worth a look. I bought a pair of oakleys for £80 that were £219 at vision express.

I'll be needing some new glazing soon.

Ha ha - indeed. The client commented "if I had known you could take a car for the same journey, would not have bothered with the jet", I politely pointed out that the may not have enjoyed the drive too much.
Still, at least I can claim to have raced a private jet, and won

Back in the day there was a scheduled flight that used to go Glasgow - Edinburgh - Somewhere_further_away_probably_Copenhagen.
As this was a long time ago let's say it may have been operated by a now defunct airline (for nothing if not legal reasons). There was as rumour the crews always tried to set the fastest time for the route. If both airports are on Easterlies it is less than about 35 track miles from Glasgow to Edinburgh.
As this record pre-dates the most recent speed limit changes I don't think it is unreasonable to estimate an average speed of 4-5 miles a minute. Certainly less than 10 minutes flying time - in fact I reckon that if all the fates are aligned you could do that route from doors closed to touch down in under 15 minutes.
That private must have picked up a hell of a delay somewhere along the line

Or they wanted to enjoy their wine.

We used to do that on the North Sea pete, out to the Brent D and back. VNE for the S76 was 155kts but cruise was 145kts, but we had no telemetry back then, so no HUMS tapes to upload when you got back.
That was pre "tut" days so I was known as Dash Duncan then.

ps:- probably explains why my engines had shorter strip down hours than the others.

Build in time for them to load up, taxi etc - then circle, land, taxi etc at the other end... possibly the wind was against them. Meanwhile, we had a remarkably clear run through,... (Two Jag XJs running with main beam down the outside lane seem to part the traffic quite effectively

.... I would imagine )

On the subject of crappy airports.... Edinburgh now have a big, new queue to join after security!
They are now checking passports for international travellers, domestics can walk straight through. Just looking at the photo, not scanning it and not taking a photo like at Heathrow or Gatwick.
What's the point? Save yourself some time and follow the sign for domestic passengers!

You lot are in a minority.
People love airports, that's just a fact. If Edinburgh have found a way to enable passengers to spend more time in the airport, soaking in the ambience and generally revelling in the experience then they deserve our congratulations for a job well done.

The only good thing about airports is the ability to drink alcohol and numb the whole experience, hateful places.......

I was building in taxi time! Juliet Apron is like 3 minutes taxi from the holding point on westerlies.

Maybe the passengers stopped to soak up the aforementioned airport ambience?

"People love airports"...... I'm astonished at that statement and couldn't disagree more; I did are a return trip every week for two years and never saw one person having a good time, this was especially true in Edinburgh airport.
I can only assume that the statement above applies to people who use airports once a year?
My experience is that you queue to get to the drop off point, queue for security, queue to buy a bottle of water, queue to go for a pee then queue to get on the plane. Where's the "love" in any of that?

Knowing Pete, I suspect tongue in cheek.....
