Not exactly what he said on his breakfast show....
Beeb article posted just after the announcement had comment from Evans categorically stating he was a "no". If he's changed his mind since that comment, that's his prerogative.

Said he had slept on it and the reason for not taking it was that he has recently started shuffling / running and lost his belly and would need to put that belly back in place to do it.

He is negotiating, in his day (2000) he was bigger than Clarkson imho.

Arguably still is. He has been as tempremantal as him at times too.

If TG does continue it needs a strong presenter, which he would be , and it probably needs to go back to be more of the car review programme. To try to parachute a replacement presenter (presenters) in to do the same 'job' Clarkson & co did would be a big mistake.

I look forward to new Top Gear - the car programme on the BBC, and old Top Gear, the cocking about programme with a motoring flavour, elsewhere.

Best of both worlds?

I've only scanned the various posts on other forums, but I'm amazed nobody has suggested bringing back Quentin Wilson. Rumours about clocking cars and a questionable slick back are only some of his strengths.

So who is in the running?

Chris Evans: Has the personality and the following. Could easily pull it off.

Guy Martin: Ladies Love, has had BBC exposure and has had a second series win. BBC own him.

Monkey: Unknown outside forums, nae chance.

Suzi Perry: Has a bbc contract already.

Retired BTTC/F1 driver: Who is Evans mates with? Jody Scheckter

International appeal: Are any of the current U.S. TG presenters any good?

Guest presenters?: Rowan Atkinson, Nick Mason, Brian Johnson?

Really!! Because parading the target of their anger in front of a baying mob would be the right thing to do .......
Not making the program would have been a better thing to do ...

You could say the same about Evans, not about the cash.

All Guy Martins stuff is Channel 4.

*doh* well he'll have a price.

Dermot is better than Hammond.

Would actually like to see a gay presenter as two fingers up to the homophobic tripe they instilled in teenagers.
