If the 1st S1 was 1996 then I was 6 years old. Is there any members younger than me on here?

All this got me thinking of my first introduction to these wonderful cars.

It was a frantic test drive in the first few days of the original N1 TUT in the hands of a much younger and daring Tut ( Scared me sh--less), I was amazed at how well they drove. ( OK the test driver was something else too) After that first drive I knew I would have one too.

Took me a while to fulfil the dream, aren't we so lucky.

Funny that Kinger.

My first experience in an Elise was also in the same car and same driver.

I was working on my dad's market stall in Mintlaw and Tut used to come in and buy his eggs from our stall. I remember one day I had to ask my mum to let me go for a blast in "the blue sports car" with the guy who didn't wear shoes.

Christ I was 10 year old and still remember to this day asking Tut how fast were we going and he wouldn't tell me as I would tell my mum lol.

15 years later I have my own one and will never forget my first experience. I can still remember the route we were on.

Time flies.

Danny, that's quite a story!

This is why speeds on SE are *always* measured in "Tuts". Avoids alarming anyone...

I remember it well. You didn't quite have Uji at that point (or had just taken delivery?) Remarkable you still have it after all those years and of course a more grown up Evora now.

There can not be too many owners that still have their 1999 S1 from new, but probably impossible to check up on.

Would be good if we had our own unique Campbell on S_E.

Kelv - wasn't long back from Hethel visit and speccing the car. Delivery was still 3 mths away. Oh the torture.

Tut - I think I am indeed the only "1 owner from new" around here, in an S1 capacity at least. Quite an honour!

Oh and the Evora remains bloody brilliant. Still seeking the moment to properly stretch its legs, mind.

Prior to one list was some email chat. That's probably 98 but who cares!

On the evora front, do you think you'll sell it once the kids don't fit or will it be a case of taking both cars on lotus jaunts?

Did anybody have an Elise in '98 or was '99 the first year of ownership?

I had one in '98 as did a few. My daughter was born on 29 September and I collected the Elise exactly one week later. It was a 10 month wait from ordering the previous year.

Any plans of Evoras or Exiges is out the window for me for a while as we just bought a new hoose. A Victorian barn conversion with enough space for any SEer to stopover en-route South.
