And Jenson said in his post race interview that towards the end he was told he could give it everything and he was flat out trying to catch Magnusen.

Pretty sure we would hear that, its in the fia's interest to broadcast that kind of message...Dominic wrote:For all we know, plenty of them could have been G1 - I doubt we get to hear all the team radioScuffers wrote:
realistically, at no point did any of them 'go for it' as such, G3 was the best call heard, G1 would be 'going for it' engine power wise, the rest is fuel management.

This smacks of a major "toys out of pram" moment... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula-one/26721387
Re: F1 Practice
Always the concern when a you've got a fairly volatile team owner - one assumes he's just bumping his gums to make a noise, but hopefully it's not the beginning of him falling out with F1. Quite apart from his two teams, the amount of money he pumps into the sport is incredible.Dominic wrote:This smacks of a major "toys out of pram" moment... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula-one/26721387

Re: F1 Practice
He's a very astute businessman and not prone shooting his mouth off without good reason.
If he leaves F1 and takes his money elsewhere it will be a black day for F1.
I think he's correct, it's not the pinnacle of Motorsport that it used to be. His reasons go far beyond the fuel measurement issue, that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Re: F1 Practice
I read it as:
"I preferred it when winning came more easily. I want the old engine formula back because with it (and exhaust blowing) we were dominant. I preferred it when we got warnings rather than disqualitifcations. I won't continue spending an enormous (class-leading) budget if I conte to feel like the sport is run by others."
Maybe cynical of me and his Red Bull marketing machine. It also sounds like he's cribbed one of de Montezemolo's past interviews
Would we actually miss the Red Bull teams? I don't think I would TBH. But I say that with a thought for the folk employed by them - and hope if it came to it they would find employment elsewhere.
I hadn't been aware of his cash injection into WRC? Obviously seen branding on teams' cars, but didn't know Red Bull also put money into the sport itself. Good on him if so.

.
My other thought is that he (Mr Redbull) is throwing his weigh around to bully the FIA a little. A bit of politics basically.
Re: F1 Practice
I read it as 'we are the next Ferrari, do as we want or else we are off'
pretty sad really,
(and if you think back, kind of plays out like Lewis said about them being a drinks company)

I think Herr M is a bit rich to talk of politics!
Well if it keeps him and the F1 press occupied then whatever.
