If you are feeling brave http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/ ... er/1785239#

If not a grand Cherokee is a good option, that is what I was initially looking for before I ended up buying my old range rover, which has been surprisingly reliable

Thinking of looking further into this, top of the range but high mileage which probably reflects the price which is £2K less than equivalents. One owner and full service history, 12 months MOT, but should the mileage put me off?

Fancy a Fourtrack ? I have a farmer friend who swears by Daihatsu's, he has tried and failed to kill his on many occasions.

Cheers again lads - the smaller ones being suggested (Vitaras/Fourtracks, etc) probably not, as it's probably going to be used as a van as much as a rufty tufty car. So Shogun LWB sized is the preference - Land Cruiser is an epic shout DDtB, I'll check them out too (unless you've got a light afternoon again, Mr McKenzie! :) )

Can't help but think that a Landcruiser is a far superior product to the Mushibits Shogun... prices may reflect that too though.

That would be wasting energy and hard drive space when they are both Shogun related. :D

Jimnys are cooler though :blackeye

The Grand Vitara is still fairly small though isn't it?
Like Honda CRV size, which is probably a better investment - not sure on budget of course..

I'm anti-LWB 4x4 though.

We held a charity car wash event at work, and the woman with the LWB Shogun, the woman with the Nissan Patrol, and the woman with the XC-90 all paid a fiver to get their cars washed. I can't imagine why...
Also, there seems to be a pattern in my office with 4x4s ;)

I agree, they tend to be far more expensive. The hilux's are a fortune compared to the L200 also.

I had an L200 new shape for a year or so. Great pickup if very wallowey with not great seats but did what it needed to do. Towed well but didn't get very good mpg (about 18mpg when towing). No faults whatsoever in my one other than it's inability to get itself out of a ditch I found myself entering at 40mph. It was right stuck.

Have driven the older ones too and they seem pretty decent and may even have slightly better engines, although I have heard of some with issues too.

Landcruisers are pretty bullit proof and have far more comfort but pricey bacause of that. :D

Ron has got a freelander and actually quite likes it!

Landcruiser is great chat also.

Would be tempted to go jap at this money.

Also, they havent changed the Shogun since my mates mum had one when i was a kid so they "must" have ironed out the issues by now surely! :damnfunny

4x4 parts are normally brutal so totally agree about avoiding anything with intergalatic mileage!
