It is called the Gordon Group although Aberdeen has their own group.

Course starts soon on the 17th of April - 5 weeks plus your drives with observer on top.

Can't remember cost but course cost is the same nationally so will be on IAM national website. Gordon Group membership is about a tenner from memory.

It says:

What's the cost of a further year, or do you have to sit annual tests to remain a member or...?

Either it's not the clearest website, or I'm not making much sense of it :blackeye

Renewal cost for IAM membership is about £30 per year. You don't need to re-test every year, just declare that you haven't had any driving offense convictions (I think a few speeding points are ok) in the last 12 months and that you will continue to drive to IAM standards (a pretty meaningless declaration except in spirit).

On top of your £30 IAM membership fee you may optionally pay a separate membership fee for your local group which varies, but say £10 as an average. The group membership fee stays with your local group (for meeting room hire, printing flyers etc) and is nothing nothing to do with your membership of the IAM.

There's no obligation to renew you IAM membership at all after completing the course, although you obviously lose any benefits (can't claim IAM membership for your insurance, can't display IAM badge on the car etc).

Most local groups will ask you to join for the year you are with them doing the course, but again there's no obligation to renew your local group membership either, although it's nice to support a local group if you can just to keep the number of active groups up for future students.
