Drop Off Rip Off - Edinburgh Airport

Aye it's a sair fecht.
You can pre-book the Long Stay for a little less than the dayrate you got, I believe

Just checked on-line and got a quote for £8-30 for a 7am drop and 9pm collect so 80p saving to be had.

on the plus side this charge has stopped it beiong a total pain to drop people off, and no jakees are taking the piss and parking there anymore

Strange. Never found drop off or pick up to be a problem in the past. Guess it must have worsened in the few years since Lisa was regularly collecting me from the last flight in from Gatwick on a Thursday night :-/

I recently took my my mum to the airport and as she walks with a stick and has a disabled badge. My intention was to park in the short stay car park so I could take her into the terminal and get her checked in (15-20 mins max). I hadn't been to Ed airport for a while so didn't realise the entrance to the short stay car park had moved to the first roundabout. I only discovered this as I turned left to head towards the terminal (where the entrance used to be). As this is a one way road, I couldn't just spin round so I thought I'd drive right round the perimeter to the roundabout again. As far as I could make out though, the only way round was through the drop off zone incurring the £1 charge even though I didn't stop End result was the luxury of paying twice to park once

I suppose it's my fault for not paying attention to all the (numerous) signs, but I'm sure I'm not the first to have done this. Robbing Bar Stewards.

Lesson learnt.

Dropped a colleague off the on Tuesday.

Saw the sign for varying drop off charges - I was confused. Given that you just chuck a pound into the machine on the way out to lift the barrier, how can it tell how long you have been there

Is there number plate recognition or something?

(Although now as I think about it that might be mainly for staff. In fact I don't normally pay at most airports. It's possible you know that you are paying more to park your cars than the airlines pay to park their planes. I'm not really helping here am I? Sorry, I'll go.)
