i'm on the nurburgring and spa double header trip aswell, should be awesome if its dry. Rain and fog the last time i went to the ring.

Also, thinking about doing rockingham on the 30th of april. Seems like an oddball circuit that you gotta try once.
I'm not booking any of the HM , dreadnought, brunty days or East fortune until i get my car back in my grubby little hands. 2 weeks hopefully :D

Javelin, Colin wrote: Hi Phil

You booked this event on 19th January. In my opinion this left you with ample opportunity to check and ensure your insurance company would provide cover. You state you were not aware of the MSA clause within your policy. Would it not have been prudent to have read your policy documents and to have checked the situation prior to booking?. If the MSA clause is not apparent then surely it is your insurers that have not made the situation clear. The fact that the venue is not MSA approved does not in any way signify that the venue or the event is unsafe. I feel we cannot be held responsible for writing a description of venues that satisfies or covers every clause on every clients policy. After all insurance cover for your car is something you arrange not us. The fact that you only decided to check and act within 72hrs of the event demonstrates a lack of attention to detail on your part. It appears that you made assumptions regarding your insurance that we cannot be held responsible for.
We did have a couple of others ask about the approval status. It did not appear to be a major issue with anyone else. Trackday car insurance for East Fortune is after all readily available from most well known specialist companies.so it is not as if you were unable to insure your car.
The event was marketed at a cheap price to encourage drivers to sample the delights of East Fortune. Which many did. The price of the event is immaterial. We did have quite a reserve list but understandably within 2 days of an event it is not possible for many to ready a car and make alternative arrangements. The very fact that you had booked a place and did not inform us of any issue until extremely close to the event denied us the opportunity of refilling that place. I feel it is reasonable for us to expect you to honour your commitment in the form of payment to the event. The event took place and you had opportunity to participate which means we have fulfilled our obligations to you.
Sorry, in this instance there will be no refund or credit as I feel there is no justification for giving same.

Kind Regards

Colin

There is no way I would be letting Javelin make off with my £89.

I thought it was cheap because someone arsed up at their end? They could at least go 50/50 with you. Not very good business practice from them IMHO.[/quote]

Correct

Fat Colin said at the briefing that they'd done the full day as a loss-leader to get interest in the venue....

Yep, total cock-up and then they added the Sunday to try and make some money. TBH, I'd much rather we sorted out a day ourselves and got other clubs to come along, avoiding going down the Javelin route. Maybe run it by John at SIDC and see what he says.

BTW, in no way did I mean to suggest that Javelin were bad in any way it's just that I think the SIDC could do an event cheaper as they're a club and not a business.

Simon, excellent idea/suggestion

You see, Javelin now know my car & won't let me run again until I can get it below 102dB :x

Which, I'm sure you can guess, I have absolutely no plans to do :ROFL

I was thinking along those lines at the track day till that chap said that they had only let Javelin do the car events.

Well worth a shot though :D :D

Personally I had a great day at EF..... but I did get a bit p*ssed off at constantly being told how honoured I should feel for being allowed on that track.... and such a wonderfully brilliant rack at that..... YAWN!!!! I just wanted to drive !!!!!

They did make it quite clear though that it is a joint back scratching arrangement they have and that if any other clubs try to book the day... they'll be told to feck off...... they are not worthy..... remember.... it is an honour to be allowed on at EF...... don't know if it's even worth trying to organise anything if the answer will be no....

at least at KH they just take your money and let you go on after a short briefing ..... ie not going on for too f'ing long whilst making you stand in the f'ing cold just to hear what you can't do, why you should be jumping for joy at the honour of just being allowed to be there and how they'll take their ball back if they decide they don't like you........

Then again... maybe I'm just a grumpy b*stard tonight....

Add TRS to any list of clubs Si, we have been desperate to organise our own trackday but its difficult to garantee the numbers doing it ourselfs.

TBH, I doubt we'd ever be able to organise our own day as we don't have the numbers and I wouldn't want to have the worry of paying for something and people not going etc. If the SIDC could do it though, I'd certainly be very interested in doing another day there as I liked the track.

cant help but hold it against them.
i tried to be nice in the email - coz I know I should have sorted it earlier.
in fact, I had contacted my insurance company the week before coz I did it to get the insurance for KH.
thats when I was told I needed to know if they were approved - I thot nae bother, they will be. how wrong could I be.

Im sure I read that someone got credit to go for the next one.
bah!
see - not happy with them and cant help but be like that
and they have had the interest form my money since January!
