Sounds like Sky actually have a decent team. I agree with others than Ant Davidson is a better choice than DC, and it sounds like the majority of the better folk from the beeb have jumped ship.

I actually really like Jake, but he does so much other stuff for the beeb, it was fairly clear that he'd stay with them.

Is the F1 coverage going to be on skyplayer (online?)

It's called SkyGo now and F1 should be all over it - providing you have the correct package to view it live.

Been watching the NFL Playoffs on Sky Sports via SkyPlayer / Go on Xbox 360, will consider similar for the F1 - or will point the old dish on my house to a different satellite group and watch in German ;)

I really need to get my finger out and upgrade to HD before the start of the season.

But to get it I imagine you need to subscribe to the Sports package. Won't be available to size M minions like me I suspect.

I may reopen negotiations with them over a free upgrade to HD mind you...at least I'd get the BBC ones in fine detail :-)

You need to have either the Sky sports package or HD package to receive the formula 1 channel on Sky. :thumbsup

Mac, you might as well upgrade, seeing as you get that tv bed just in time for it! :thumbsup

Just saw that. Interesting signing - not sure what role (I think a bit of a DC in the pre-and-post-show most likely) and he's there for half the races. When he's been on recently, he's come across pretty level headed, clear and of course as the Chairman of the BRDC for years, he's got lots of contacts and inside info. Seems refreshingly unconcerned about voicing opinions too, without being crass about it - good signing, I think.

I reinvigorated my HD package just before Xmas...tenner a month but a deal on then gave back £100 M&S vouchers... :thumbsup

Crikey don't tell Lisa that !!

TBH, OTOH, I am this close to ditching the lot and getting our council telly aerial re-rigged (hasn't worked for years) and just using free-to-air HD, iPlayer and perhaps LoveFilm. The main thing holding me back is the consistently high performance and reliability of Virgin broadband which is bundled with the telly and phone. We shall see. Sorry for thread drift!

Nice wee trailer just posted online

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AbS6u0u_9jY

I know there are some haters out there but Sky are doing a HUGE amount of promotion internally and externally for this channel and they seem determined to do a good job. Yes they've got big shoes to fill but they seem determined to bring something different to the party. There's a huge amount of confidence in the company right now.

nice trailer, but kept waiting for something to happen...
Im thinking of upgrading my basic sky+ package to HD to get it... Is that still an option?

I love F1, but I dont think I love it that much to get up in the middle of the night to watch the non-european races.

Yes to watch F1 on Sky we have two options

1. Get Sky Sports (£20 a month)

OR

2. Get Sky HD subscription (£10 a month)

Martin, Is there any way of getting F1 as a standalone without subs to other channels?
