Would be sad to see you guys let go of the car, given the obvious work, care and pride that went into it.

At the end of the day though, cars and houses and stuff don't really mean all that much, and events like this make you think about what's important. If they ain't making you happy, moving on makes sense...

Long as you know you don't escape the SE clutches by merely selling your car :thumbsup

women   only joking jen.

I can see where your coming from about the house. I think you guys have a really nice house and when its finished, fingers crossed (sorry alan) it will sell quickly.

Please dont sell the elise as yet (i wish i had the money) just wait and see what happens with the house. Do you really need the extra money?

I have a friend who might be able to help getting the ensuit finished. He's very good and fairly cheap and can get good deals on bathrooms and tiles.

I will try and find the time to come and visit you guys next week and have a chat (sorry ive been really busy). Looking forward to seeing you both this afternoon.

Some wise words flying around in here. And some good ol' SE spirit too 8)

Take your time, avoid the kneejerk, and if you are not under specific time-pressure, make space for ideas to "settle". I'm a great believer in using how you feel about something first thing in the morning, to help decide what's the right course of action :-)

Alan,

Brilliant to see that you're stitched (stapled) up and back home, and back posting! That's one heck of an injury. Sounds like they were worried about compartment syndrome hence they hacked your forearm open.

Who needs a radial nerve anyhow? Only a bit of wrist drop as a result of that I believe. Its not even your 'gear' hand so I wouldn't go selling anything just yet. Let the dust settle as others have said - you'd be mighty miffed if the nerve healed up (which is possible if they got the nerve ends re-attached) and you'd have to go through another conversion!

Easy to say from the objective viewpoint, but just take it easy and relax for a while. It will take a bit of time to come to terms with exactly what happened. There's a lot to be thankful for, and don't lose sight of that :)

Alan/Jen, you know what to do for the best. I've never missed any car as much as I do the Exige. The only reason I would advise you to hold on to that one is due to the effort you put into restoring it. However, you can still buy another one a couple of years down the line (as I plan to). Sometimes other things just take priority!

P.S Blackburns nice if you're going to be looking at houses.

I know a man that can do that, and he's free. No exactly where your coming from with the car. And unlike most on here I agree, even though you spent sometime and money on it, if selling it means you get the house you want then so be it.

Cars are replaceable, you'll get good money for it and at the end of the day the fun is in doing up the car. Once it's done it kinda just a car after that IYSWIM.

Anyway, see you'se on Thursday once I get home, chin up the pair of you. Every cloud has a silver lining :thumbsup

Home & happiness take priority over cars ... if you need to sell the car to raise the cash for the house you want, it's a no brainer.

Now, how much do you want for it? :-) :-)

Nice to see you both last night - I'm very impressed with the way the pair of you have dealt with this!

Cheers,
Robin

I haven't a clue how much it's worth.

I was thinking around the £15000 mark but Scotty thought it was worth more. Going to fix the rear clam, fit new wheel bearings (or Mike is :D ) and a good service. Probably just put offers in the advert ???

If i sell the Elise and add a bit of savings, that would bring us below the 80% mortage rate for a big house out in the country (G&T's, Pipe and sit & go lawn mower).

If my hand starts working again, i will either build another or buy a Caterham R3/4/500.

Watch out, he's on the prowl again, Alan...I think an S1 itch is needing scratched ;-) It would be a good home but I would have to round to wash it to keep it in the manner to which it's been accustomed

Lisa asked me if we could buy it too. I choked on my cornflakes...

Idiot, that is exactly what it was, as was my reply. Can not always be bothered putting smilies in all the time, you know when I am serious.

I had to sell my elise as driving it properly was a bit of a career conflict of interest and seeing it sitting in the garage or using it to commute was making me sick........

............ I regret selling it every day.
