Feeling much better.

Good to get home and start recovering. In virtually no pain but a little low on energy.

I wanted to thank everyone again, i came home to find the entire house cleaned with the en suite stripped and all the rubbish taken to the tip. Ali and Nic cleaned up all the blood in the hall, so that Jen didn't have to come home and face it. My Mum, Dad, Brother and Chris (Cheez) gutted the ensuite and cleaned the rest of the mess. Scotty then took everything to the dump including a bag of blood soden towels (probably the smell, sorry). Thanks to everyone else for the kind words and support.

Don't take chances with power tools ! it can and does happen. I made a stupid mistake and have put myself and family through hell (TIT). I actually have photos of the injuiry which I can post if the mods let me (maybe in a link). Looks like something out of a saw film but a good warning me thinks.

In the hospital, they said it was for the various experts to review. Pretty sure it was so he could show his mates or put it in one of those horrible emails we all get.

Yeah... those Doctor forums are pretty tough to stomach... especially the proctologists! Lot's of bragging going on there! Kinda like we talk about our exhaust pipes?

Ken, I'm really sorry to hear of your injury, but it really is heartening knowing that someone has been through a similar injury and has healed to almost back to normal. :thumbsup

We may take you up on that offer, but we'll wait and see what happens in a couple of months time when the splint holding his hand up comes off.

He's convinced playing xbox and playstation will help his recovery, so has been busying himself with the easy tasks in GTA in between visitors! He has actually managed to move his fingers up a little, whereas he couldn't do that at all before he came home. :thumbsup

His blood is still low and he hasn't much energy still but is feeling better every day. First appointment at the Hand clinic on Wed which I'm looking forward to as his bandages are falling apart as his arm swelling has come down so much and I'm feart I get a nice view of the staples etc!! Iv been joking with him that nothing has changed for me in the house-I still prepare his meals, clean up afterwards, do all the washing, housework and gardening, it's no different from before!! :blackeye :damnfunny

No worries Jen. I'm all better now!! Its amazing how the human body can repair itself (given patience), but I personally believe it's important to meet it halfway and help it along where you can. Hand therapy will help, but I'm convinced that keeping the muscles active (where they react to electrical stimulus) while your nerves regenerate/heal is critical. If muscle goes a long period without electrical stimulus, it turns into non-muscular tissue that no longer reacts to electrical stimulus (i.e. regenerated nerves a year down the road) permanently.

The XBox and PS3 really helped too... but for me, a little further down the road as my thumb didn't work. I remember straining to stretch a rubber band between my fingers. Playdough really helped too (like Silly Putty). After a while I actually began to like the Zapping. I think that was just the muscles coming back to life (felt like a massage from the inside out).

Let me know on the electrical stimulator (Zapper). I'm happy to send if Alan's therapist agrees. Those little medical items cost about $1400, but in reality cost about $10 to make. Insurance in the U.S.... what a scam. (BTW... they paid for it... not me, so no worries)

The dog will absolutely love to see that thing go (but he doesn't crap in the house anymore). My wife calls me 'Evil Kenny'. Am I bad?

"Hang in there Alan! I've been there, so I think about you every day. Keep the faith my friend... it will come back."

Thanks Ken,

I have an appointment tommorow and will let you know.

Hopefully getting my staples out tommorow, if they leave the bandages off i'm thinking of gaffer taping my hand to the steering wheel. Not to keen on public transport/Taxis.

Found my old nitro rc car which needs an engine rebuild, so that should keep me going. Ordered an s1 elise body and some orange paint as well.

Hey Chris, yeah it is a 1/10th scale. Its actually an S1 Exige shell but the description is Elise. I cant remember the website name. I'll need to have a look and get back to you. :thumbsup

Yep! Got the same one. Elise description but actually an Exige. Got a couple Tamiya 1/8 scales too (2 spd trannys), 3 off-roaders, and a Rally car too. Ever since I got the real toy, I don't play with them as much. Saving for a rainy day.

I'd like to see yours orange. Is that the little RS4 all wheel belt drive?

Thinking about it, if it's the Exige S1 shell I remember seeing, I don't think it'll fit any of my chassis. The Mini is obviously too small, and my others are a proper old-school 4wd belt driven Schumacher buggy, and a 4wd shaft driven Tamiya buggy (all electric here...) which are wiiiide compared to regular car chassis.

Neither of mine really saw much use, the Mini is more of a display piece, and the other 2 are packed away in the attic somewhere!
