N.A exige being dropped from production for 2008 though. And like I said, the above is progression in a "newer must be better" line rather than what is or isnt faster/slower/better handling etc.

before i had the 111R and before it existed, i wanted "an elise".
my fav was the 160 in black.

when the yota engined elise came out, I wanted the 111R.
But i still wanted the 160 too.

when i had my 111R, i wanted to change to an exige, especially having driven a 240R...
But i still looked at a 160.
I also started looking at 135R.

When i crashed the 111R, I looked at a 135R.
I still wanted a s/c exige. I still looking at a 160.

Sitting here, having no lotus, I would love a s/c exige.
Id love a 111R.
Id love a 160.
Id love a 135R.

Theres always something better to be looked at.
Its all experiences that u know ud love.
Enjoy it, every time u think about getting in the car. Every time u pick up the keys. Every time u walk to the car. Every time u open the door. Every time u get in. Every time u touch that steering wheel and that gear lever. Every time u start the engine. Every time u drive it.

Sitting at my desk, thinking of how much i took it for granted that the elise was at home or in the car park, i miss that anticipation and realisation that I OWN AND CAN DRIVE a lotus elise based car.

Upgrade/progression? U have the best already....

Know where you are coming from there. It is all too easy to get caught up constantly aspiring to your next car - better to appreciate and enjoy what you have. Worth remembering too that owning a Lotus, especially a brand new one, is an unobtainable dream for the majority of people.

An Exige S is a quicker road car, but on track and in second cam there isn't going to be much difference.

There are loads of answers to your question, but it depends if you want to be all the gear with no idea or not? The reason i ordered an Atom 245 instead of the 300 was to try and ensure i could drive the socks off it before getting the SC.

Some the cars mentioned are seriously tricky to drive to their limits and beyond and require a lot of practise and exeperience. You could still get lapped by an s1 shed spec with the "not much to lose" theory on track.

I think the 111r is a great learning car - more understeer than i'd have liked but you can change that. Switch your Jag for a 911 would be my suggestion ;)

Lotus Esprit S4S

I would be mad to change car at this stage, it will be next summer at the earliest. I also have a car in mind which the jag will be swapped for, however, will have to work my arse off if I want it to happen.

I'll wager you could've buy a 340R with the depreciation if you sell next summer

I'm finding it hard to choke back the phrase 'you bafoon!' but thankfully I managed

I have often pondered what the next step up from an Exige is, and have concluded that for me at least there isnt really one at the moment. Plenty of cars offer more track performance (Atom, Caterham etc), but if you want a really usable road and track car, I can't really think of anything this side of a 911GT3, especially now that Noble is pretty well defunct. Even if you look at megabucks cars like a Fezza 430 or Lambo, are they going to offer better handling, more lateral grip, or better steering feel? I seriously doubt it - just more straight line grunt and eye watering running costs. So, I am telling myself that the Exige is the ultimate for me at the moment - best way of avoiding expensive temptation :)
