Agree with Rich, the service is excellent and they were willing to help a complete stranger out (me). Usually I find the vast majority miscalling the conversion are those trying to justify there own spenditure, and lets face there is no honda conversion that hasnt problems of some sort (driveshafts included), anyone telling you otherwise is a living in fantasy.

THIS IS COPIED FROM MARK ANDERSON ON SELOC.

Seeing as I've stirred this one up lets finish it.

Spot the slight problem?

1st up. let me explain when this driveshaft (supplied to me via the Edwards, from Tony Stansfield) let go.
It was just as I was accelerating away from a stop on a dual carriageway, however, I was actually turning right from the central reservation, as I pulled away it immediately broke leaving me with no way of accelerating above the walking pace I was now doing. There were 2 very lucky things about this, 1the junction was slightly downhill so I kept rolling, 2 the very large Articulated lorry that was 300yrds away when I pulled across was far enough back and had nothing overtaking it to allow me to get to the inside lane while it went past on the outside lane. The consequences of me pulling across a few seconds later or a car or truck overtaking the truck just don't bare thinking about.

My car went to Sinclaires who then found the above as opposed to a failed outer CV that I thought it was.

To answer Simons question, Sincs have fitted some new GKN driveshafts to my car that I have to pay for (when Wayne tells me how much!)

I then spoke to the Edwards about this and they told me that Chris Pearsons car had done the same but they were told that was because the car has 360bhp and they weren't designed for that. They have now sourced shafts from the same place Chris got his ones that are now on his car which has survived Randy abusing it round Snetterton at the Tuner GP. (a lot more than the original shafts did).
Obviously at this point it is obvious that the shafts aren't designed for 221bhp either. What you can't see (as I can't get a decent enough picture of it) is the fact that the shaft has also bent.

Lets add some additional information before any mis-information starts.
The driveshafts were the only part of the Edwards kit that they didn't make or design themselves, they bought them in good faith from Tony Stansfield.

My car is the only one to leave Sinclaires with these driveshafts fitted. I was offered their own ones from GKN but having paid out money to get the Tony Stansfield ones I said I'd stick with them, what a mistake, it could have killed me!

It seems that from the comments from Pley this was known about and people have had shafts replaced, this just pisses me off even more. From my POV it seemed that Tony has so far refused to acknowledge the problem. Perhaps he needs to respond on here or give me a call and explain why I'm out of pocket.

Thats a very clean break! And how do you bend a driveshaft? seems a bit odd!

Reports from Norlog its a Pre-Phoenix conversion anyway. Dunno what tht means exactly.

As I said, Phoenix's service is great, dunno about the Honda bits though...

I for one will stick to my semi disposable K :D

The car has wanted for nothing. It is a very well sorted car and will out run most supercars.
