Up for 2008 depending on which car I have.
Maybe an Exige or a beige Volvo...
We do have some standards, this is Scottish Elises, in the words of Jim Royle, "Volvo, My ar$e" Next you'll be telling us you need space for your hairdryer.

You'll be driving down by yourself and parking well away from our tents.

I'm going this year :D

6 guys in my 7, another 7, and an M3, getting the Rosyth-Zeebrugge Ferry (overnighter = pished), nice x-country drive thru Belgium & France

Meeting up with 2 others who are flying from London-Paris, train to LM :D

No point in fannying about with camper vans or the like - anything but a tent kinda loses the whole ethos of LM for me

Ross,

I've done L-M the past 2 years, with the Rosyth ferry. If you've got time, I'd recommend scooting down to the old pit complex at Riems, on the way to L-M. It's a couple of hours out of he way, but well worth a visit.

Another advantage of this route is the lack of French cops - they all seem to be on the Calais road, leaving the route from Lille to L-M free.

Friday afternoon is a must, as is the driver parade in the town at night, though it gets really busy, making parking difficult, but there are mad things happening all the time - just don't wate too much time watching the racing.

Would happliy be part of any 2008 trip.

Derek - have always wanted to go to Reims :D

Just had a quick shifty at the map - east of Paris :(

How long (time-wise) did this detour add to your journey?

Last time, we spent Mad Friday down at Indianapolis & Arnage bends, watching the pistonheaders in their exotica, plus a few laps of the circuit.
Got a taxi into LM in the evening, all wearing kilts, only to catch the end of the parade in the square - then proceeded to get very drunk

This year, we've got the Chinese on the mulsanne straight booked for the saturday nite

Will be nice munching on deep fried shredded beef in chilli sauce with cars blootering past at 240mph 8)

I think it was about 4 hours. We got off the ferry about noon, and turned off the M'way, into France turn off for St Quentin, then Riems.

We got there about 4, but that was after a few stops for eats and drinks, and we had an Aston DB5 with us, so we were not making as swift progress as we could have done.

Stopped for pics and a wander around etc for about an hour, and then made it back to L-M about 10pm, again a few stops etc.

I can only recommend it, and it's much easier to go on the way to L-M than on the way to the ferry - you don't want to be catching port fever as you have for the boat, especially since they are now every 2 days!

The local authrity and some volunteers have been doing the place up, which is a shame as t's now very clinical and lost some of the old atmosphere. I'll see if I can dig out some pic etc.
