Rev limiter is ther to protect the engine, just try not to buzz it with downshifts and it'll last ok.

thanks,

was reading the pdf of the manual i got from someone here and noticed it was limited to 7K, hence was wondering why others were getting over this. The owner worries she will blow it up above 5.5K will let her know safe for 6K

Stu has an aftermarket ECU and his engine isn't exactly standard...
Also the Toyota (With the 6 speed box) has a much higher rev limit (7.8k) It will make you jump when you hit the limiter, it cuts the fuel and makes a racket, very distressing if your not expecting it!

It will blow up eventually, its a K, but that depends on alot of things you can't check, prevent or predict (How much the guy on the assembly line had to drink at lunchtime for example)

PRRT is supposed to help but nothing is definate.

Depends if you are going by the clock or actual speed. You wont get any higher than the stated maximum unless you change gear ratios but if the Exige is similar to my old CTR for speedo readings, 147 actual speed would probably read around 162-164mph.

Yours must have been gubbed then, when using the Road Angel GPS in the Exige and CTR both showed pretty much the same % over read from the speedo.

FYI 150 on the clock was 142 on the roadangel.
Lotus give 145 as the top speed but well all now about their reported stats! :)

With the s/c gearbox that was 137 tuts,on the track.

I am sure it is the same as 4th in a std box.
