Yeah, everyone got that email last week too. I had an apologetic phonecall explaining that it was an error with an automated mail thingy!

If it helps to work things out, I was to sign on between 8.45-9.20am and then my 15 minute qualifying period started at 10.30am (there was also a 10am and 10.15am slot for some of the people that signed on at the same time as me). Then there were lots of other qualifying sessions between mine and 12.45pm. The intention was then to stop for a lunch break until 2.15pm when the semi final GP for the fastest 12 from the morning was supposed to take place. In the end they pulled this forward to 1.30pm and after it finished, they strarted the afternoon session.

From the look of things, you will still be in the "AM" group of 12 if you get through. I'd suspect that your 15 minute session will be around 1pm and that you will still be in the 2.15pm GP (if successful). The afternoon lot don't start until after your GP. So you should still be home for tea time: although there is a fair bit of paperwork, TV interviews and photoshoots to do after the GP if you finish in the top 3. I got away last Saturday at 3.30pm (2hrs after my GP) - so make sure you're prepared for that! :D

The only contact number I have is for a girl in the PR company (Robertson Sport Management - RSM) that was running the media side of the event, but if she can't help she might be able to give you another contact. Her name is Jasmin Muller and her number is 01908 635 300.

HTH

John :thumbsup

Will you be on the Coors Lights tonight in preparation for the big day tomorrow??

I've got better excuses !!

Got to Teeside for about 11am today... glorious sun. Some fast times being posted but worked out that if I did a time less than 53.1 I'd be in with a chance for the final.... average 'fast lap' time was around 54/55 (fastest was 51.7, slowest 'fast' lap was 1min 2secs)

Then, 10mins before my session... grey sky and rain (just a little bit), but enough to drop the times solidly to over 55secs and see a number of people spin in the session before mine.

Still quite a few spinners in my session (not me) and I managed a 54.018 on a track that had cooled since the earlier sessions and had encountered some light spits of rain. Fairly happy with that effort but 1 second out for progressing any further. I think I should have progressed just for those excuses....

If it had been individual heats so you were racing the people immediately around you with the same conditions, with 1 to go forward then I may well have progressed... but , it wasn't... so, tough. Good day out though, and I got pulled over for an interview as I signed-on.. dunnoe who or what it was all about like.

52 seconds seemed to be the time to get. All the top 12 on the board were in the 52 secs and we were told the morning session were all 52 secs too.

I got a 53.4 so didnt make it to the final, was disapointed. 3rd fastest in my group, one guy got a 52.6 and another 51.7 - fastest of the day at that point.

Great track though and good fun. :) And got interviewed for being 3rd in group. :)

Was a bit peed off that when I got there they asked me if I wanted to do a practice session. £20 for 20 minutes. I went for it thinking, never been there before so would be good to get some practice of the circuit. Did that, had a great race with the one guy, really good circuit again. Then I found out that it was a totally different track we were doing the VXR competition on and when I did come to do the competition my arms were fooked because id just restled a twin kart round for 20 minutes. So shouldnt have bothered.

Unlucky Dave... great track layout eh?... much better than the place up here I thought, and the karts were all very good from what I saw. I counted 11 people with 52.9 or less before I went out, and I was 2nd last session for the morning. I'd estimated a 53.1 would be the cut. Didn't hang around though...

I heard someone ask in front of me about practise, and they were at least told it was a different track... bummer
