Your driving confidence will get knocked - I'm probably only now back the way I used to drive after some 9 months or so!
Your Ok (once the whiplash has settled - and that's not an over night thing) which is the main thing as everyone else has pointed out. I know there's an unspoken emotional attachment to the wee cars but it did the ultimate job it was intended for - it kept you safe.
If there's anything to help with your claim etc just let me know - I can even go down and survey the road if that helps.
From your photo's it's fairly obvious that you weren't sideways - there's initial damage on the front wing - I'm sure using some maths and geometery it could be proved who was where.

Your posts are always level-headed and I'm sure your driving is too. Terrible thing to happen. You so obviously loved that car.
I just hope this all sorts out fairly. Increasingly, the crazy and dangerous driving I see (and I drive a lot these days) is by pensioners (no offence Tut etc
Gutted for you. Any fright like that is gonna make you think hard and knock your confidence.
Just keep in mind it could happen to anyone, in any car, at any time. That's just the nature of driving, but thankfully it's a pretty rare occurrence- don't let it put you off the Elise (don't reckon it will long-term

My hopes are riding on what Mac just said. Its amazing how much evidence there may actually be when you break the incident down to tenths of seconds. It may require a lot of analysis and writing but it should work. I'd say get onto it as soon as poss while its still clear in your head and even send it to the older couple. They may well admit liability.
Fact is, they are unlikely to give such a detailed account and you may find their insurance company agreeing to your account. In fact, it may show how "together" your mind is and that you are a total enthusiast, not a boy racer. I had to do this once because of a taxi driver coming into my off side wing. It looked totally 50:50 liability, but a detailed account really put it all straight. I dont think he even made much of a defence.
Its a horrible procedure to go through, I know, but go for it, chin up, and you may be back on the straight and narrow before you know it....NCB intact....

Keep on top of the ins co, mine were rubbish.
I had to write to the third party's insurers with a copy of my accident report, as my ins co had failed to do so. Then they had the cheek to phone me up months later and tell me they had secured admission of fault from him! His insurers had admitted liability 3 months before that directly to me....

really sorry to hear about your accident dezzy. another vote here for getting back on the horse. when I crashed my mx5 (in contrast I was driving like a twat) it took me ages to get my confidence back but it does get better.
on the runs I've been on with you your driving has always been responsible and measured and here's hoping the insurance goes your way.

As Michael pointed out - if you can write down in your claim form a precise and cronological series of events it could be enough to tip the ballance in your favour.
Ins co are twats - they trade claims because at the end of the day it probably ballances out for them - it's the individuals who have to carry the can so they don't care and are probably happy to deal with everything as 50/50.
I would start the claim form with the conditions of the road, the visibility etc and then start say 20 seconds before the event.

"It was a clear dry day with the sun behind me as I drove towards Ayr? The road conditions were fine with no major potholes of any other features worth noting. As I approached I noted the warning sign and took the approrpriate measures, reducing speed and positioning my car closer to the verge to provide maximum visability..........."
It's going to be better than the duffers saying "the sports car must have came round on the wrong side of the road - so I hit him"
