I like the Mini even though it's not a real Mini, but they aren't the most spacious things ever. I prefer the previous model to the 07 face lift, I think they have tried to give it a more grown up appearance, and on that style of car, have kinda ruined it (see new beetle...)
How about something a bit classier like an Alfa 147 / 156. Probably not the quickest / best built / well spec'd / most reliable / most economical but damn they are the best looking sensible cars in the world!

Looked at the Meganes although pretty pricey to start with and no doubt they'll lose money pretty quick.
One of the attractions with the mini is that it holds it's value really well.

Yeah but if they're £19k list and you can get a new one from t'internet for £15k surely thats most of the first years depreciation gone already?
Sure it'll still lose a bit more over the next few years than a Mini but I'd rather drive an R26 than a boggo Cooper.
I do like Mini's but they're soooo pricey for what you get.
The missus fancied a new Cooper a couple of years back. The other choice was the Fabia vRS. When the Mini (normal Cooper) was specced to the same level as the Fabia it cost near on £16k compared to under £12k (after haggling) for the Fabia. And that doesn't take into account the vast difference in performance.
VX220 2.2 - Gone
BMW 335d Touring F31- Fastest car on the road
MINI Cooper 1.5- More fun than the BMW

Whatever you buy... don't go joining any other forums...
I'm getting dogs abuse over on the Fiesta ST forum right now for daring to suggest that the Fiesta does not handle as well as a Clio 172 Cup, or my old Rover 200 BRM... or my previous MG's... I was just supporting what a thread starter had observed about his car (IE, being too high and rolly as standard)
Apparantly, the Focus is one of the best handling cars around don't you know... and some boy in Orkney reckons the Fiesta is even better (which by default means it's the best). I've been told that a Clio 172 Cup has no feel, can't handle and is crap... my MG's were just Rovers (despite the fact I've tried to educate them about different suspension/geo)... oh, and no way an old Rover 200 handles better than a Fiesta (again, despite the fact I have told them it benefited from a torsen LSD)
Apparantly I don't know the difference between acceleration and handling? WTF??
So... stay tuned on SE2... that's what I say... it's more peaceful over here.
I have no signature.

Last year I parked the Elise at the end of the line of Minis and took all the attention away from them
