My Audi is the same - it means you cannot heel and toe either, pain in the arse as I think diesels need heel and toe just as much as petrols . . . if not more . . .

Right enough...never thought of that!
However the Golf's brakes aren't up to H&T action...am currently finishing the bedding in of recent disks and it only takes a few hard stops to fry 'em!
If this was my own car, I'd be putting "fast-road/trackday" pads in. But since it's the family wagon, I am going to resist that temptation

Interesting stuff. I've had a few BMW TD courtesy cars and IIRC heel'n'toe was no problem (the light switch power delivery was tho) Guess the VAG/FWD TC/ESP/whatever it's called is more intrusive...

Curiouser and curiouser...would've expected the VAG ESP to all work broadly the same, although I suppose our Golf Tdi Gti isn't really in the same sporty league as Leon FRs so maybe treated differently.

It's a diseasel innit . . . you think the brakes are going to win against the engine ? . . . doubt it . . .
It's just 'safety' gone mad in a fly by wire system . . . if you're foot is on the brakes surely you should not also be expecting power . . . they must have had some space in the eeprom in the ECU that needed filling with useless code . . .

No, young Jedi, that is The Force revealing its true strength to those who use it wisely.
You speak the truth.
