So a full on S2 K transplant to S1, or knocking off the incompatible S2 bits and putting S1 compatible bits in only?!

Campbell,

It's not really practical to run an EU3 engine in S2 trim in an S1.

The sensors, injectors and coils are not compatible with the MEMS as programmed. You can make it work with an Emerald, but you still don't get sequential injection. Also the looms don't share connectors, so you need to find a way of making the new loom fit the old car.

It is entirely practical just to use the block, head and inlet/exhaust manifolds but fit the sensors, injectors and distributor (though you need to swap to a cam with a distributor drive as the S2 doesn't have them). You can also run the inlet/exhaust manifolds straight off the S1, which makes sense if not upgrading to the alloy plenum and not switching to the S2 exhaust downpipe.

Cheers,
Robin
