I ended up with a fine for not advising DVLA I was no longer the keeper of my previous vehicle when I transferred the reg no off it - they take any opportunity to steal money off you for any reason possible. Make sure you check and double check everything - DVLA are out to get you :!:

You must be on the wrong side of the country. I have used Glasgow DVLA loads and apart from the mistake in the registration on the tax disc recently I have found them very effecient. Personally I think the Glasgow DVLA office gets through customers in a very organised way. Even while I was sitting waiting to be called to the counter a clerk came round checking documents and took mine through the back and did some preparatory work on them so that when I went up to the counter all the other clerk had to do was stamp the V5s and issue the two tax discs. There were over forty people including loads of dealers in front of me but was dealt with in under an hour.

£142 I think is the old price... which is now £165. I taxed mine for 1st April this year and it was in the E band (£165) anyway.

Ed... I heard today that my transfer is done. The V5's & retention certificate should arrive in the post next week and I'm heading down to DVLA tomorrow morning to pick up my new tax discs and a certificate that allows me to get plates made up.

That was just since Friday... so, if you didn't get anywhere with them today, hopefully you won't have too long to wait.

Andy.
