Am I the only one who can't stand Top Gear? I find it completely unwatchable  . Can't see it not coming back, but I would love to see it axed in favour of a decent enthusiast program rather than the toe curling 'light entertainment' of the current format.

I agree that a enthusiast program would be good but it would be difficult to pitch right, on one hand you have the neds who want tvs in head rests, blue neon and huge alloys, the tweed cap brigade who want an austin 7 stripped to the last nut and bolt and rebuilt to concourse, then you have the track day loonies who don't care what it looks like just as long as it's fast and moderately road legal. Tricky

James May was on the radio this morning saying it is definatly coming back, but he would wouldn't he!?!?

I wouldn't say that I can't stand it, but don't care if I miss it. Much of it is utter crap. Whilst it is nice to see cars costing more than houses put through their paces, it would be nice if it was balanced with more common and affordable (sports) cars.
Also some of the prefabricated sketches are complete drivel.

Clarkson can be quite amusing with his non-pc attitude. I can take or leave Hamond - generally he is fine when expressing his own genuine opinion and not trying to either suck up to JC or completly contradict him. James May seems a nice chap, but would be much better off on Men & Motors talking about stripping down austin 7's.
VBH was fine in her day and Tiff is also ok but is probably a bit out of touch with the target audience. I think Jason Plato is pretty good on 5th Gear - never really warmed to him as driver before that.
I used to enjoy Driven which was on Channel 4. Can't remember who was on it, but they used to have some fairly practical road tests, like passing a lorry starting from a rolling 50mph. Sounds pretty boring now, but it highlighted some major differences in motors in the Real World.
TG could be great but will probably struggle as long as JC is there with his giant ego. There aren't too many presenters who could allow their own personality to shine when pitted against him. Personally I would love to see someone like Suzy Perry on the show - she is great on the Gadget show and the MotoGp.

I have to disagree with the TG comments in that it is truley a good show 70% because of JC's arrogance, obviously not to mention a truely horrendous budget for filming helps.

Every show needs a leader, nothing just mellies with a bunch of equals, JC has that arrogance you either hate or love, and i imagine as most love the show you smirk when he is being a percieved tw*t!

The boy has done good, although just my 2p as he is most definately one of my top 10 of people i would like to spend a day with!

I watched the Scottish motoring show (cant even remember it's name it was so bland) but got half way through and switched it off. How incredibly dull!

Anyway, again my 2p, but some good points Stewart!
