Spot the odd one out. Met these guys in Callander after a blast over the Dukes Pass. There was a Mini GP there as well.

Probably the newminiscotland guys. I gatecrashed their Arbroath meet the day I did my sponsored bungee jump. The only Elise on display in amongst over 50 Minis stood out somewhat

The excuses I was given from the dealer was that the build quality on the early models wasn't as good as they'd hoped. I guess practise makes perfect so they should be not too bad by now.
I'd definately stear clear of the new new minis. Give them a bit of time (3 or 4 years) to get it right.
If you REALLY REALLY want one then I'd skip the dealer and get one on a private sale. Most will have taken the TLC package so will have a full service history and maybe some vouchers left. The warranty is for 3 years so if you get a 2 year old in a private sale with TLC then it SHOULD be ok.
Avoid these 2 like the plague!!!

The MY04 was facelifted a little, new rear lights, different exterior chrome trim and changes to the interior. I think they are also more reliable than the early ones so I'd go for as late a car as you can get.

I had a Cooper S for a while, did 15k miles in it......no probs whatsoever....ate tyres and averaged 26mpg (small tank = loads of fuel stops)...still miss it and I think I'll get another one soon.
Malcolm
PS It only dropped 2.5k.

The trim is also less vomit inducing. Ours is one of the first of the facelift ones and it was July 04
Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.
....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?

CSK_423, yeah that was me in Broadloan. I've still got the house so I'm there now and again but I'm staying in the sunny east end of Glasgow now.

I did stay with my folks in the newer part of deanpark before moving to Houston next to Bridge of weir, everything you said above seemed to just click into place not that I'm a stalker or anything

seeing the 1st mini stuck in my mind, which was yours, along with a titty silver elise that stayed local at the time. did you ever see the calypso red elise silver wheels in renfrew and the 7ft guy that drives it !!!????

SPOOKY... I was talking about you last night!!!
I was dropping my mate off in Renfrew on Tuesday and we were stuck at the lights at Wright Street and I said that there used to be a red elise that parked there and my friend (Duncan Hunter) said that the owner sometimes drank in the Glynnie and was 7 foot tall. I thought he was winding me up!
Don't know if that was your car that sat there but that was the first time I really saw an elise close up and made me want one. I was even going to leave a note on the windscreen asking if you'd sell it!
Small world indeed.
