Anyone had stripes fitted to their car in Scotland?
Re: Anyone had stripes fitted to their car in Scotland?
Interesting the pictures of orange stripes as thats what I had been thinking about for my car which is dark grey with black wheels.
I had been thinking of twin viper style orange stripes running either side of the full length roof scoop but looking at the last photo maybe a single thick stripe would look better going over the scoop? Too many choices!
Re clydewraps - it was them who quoted me £540, albeit he hadn't seen the car in the flesh as I live in Stornoway and he was pricing what i wanted via photos.

Being in Stornoway, have you tried the usual suspects in Inverness? Give Paul at A-2-Z signs or Jason at Sign Centre a ring. Both have been doing our fleet for years and are top notch. Simple stripes have got to be lower cost than cut graphics.

I honestly can't remember it was a good few years ago. I don't think it was all that expensive. I had just had the car painted and did a few other things at the same time.

You could always go for the DIY option.

Stripes available here for much cheapness - https://www.stickeredup4lemans.com/coll ... er-stripes

He was quite cheap, but was not very good at paying his bills... No longer in business.BiggestNizzy wrote:I honestly can't remember it was a good few years ago. I don't think it was all that expensive. I had just had the car painted and did a few other things at the same time.

It's quite easy to get stripes wrong, but that looks good.

Cheers. That was done in the dark while it was raining, the night before leaving for Le Mans. Looked good unless you looked really closely. With a bit more time it'd be easy enough to do a decent DIY job.

That looks very convincing and at those prices plus given the hassle for me of driving Stornoway to mainland etc then it's got to be worth a go!
Any hints or tips re application please, did you spray the panel with water to allow them to move around and get them straight prior to squeegee them into situ? How did you handle the edges?
Cheers

There are a few good guides on YouTube. Soapy water made application much easier in my experience.
Re: Anyone had stripes fitted to their car in Scotland?
I'd use electrical tape to mark out the edges of where the stripes are going as otherwise you'll find it difficult to get them aligned on all panels. This give you something to aim between. Then soapy water on the panel to let you slide them about a bit between. The edges are tricky - if I was doing it again I'd leave the backing on the section that was going round the edge, get the main section of the stripe on, then once it's set in place remove the rest of the backing and stick it round the edge. Curves were also difficult as you need to stretch the material. I ended up not doing the roof as it was late and I'd run out of patience by that point. For the front panels I'd mark them out with the panels on the car then take them off for putting the stripes on. Good luck!

You'll find it interesting that the longest stretch of strip isn't very long so when you gets simple stripes cut they only need to be 600mm or so (check though, don't take my word for it).
Be prepared to cut intricate shapes out though as vinyl doesn't go round compound corners too well.
