Classy. Really clever family choice.

Re: New toy :)
These are fantastic value now. Congrats on your purchase. My friend had the 4200 convertible for a few years - traded it in for an Evora at MMC - and we had several great runs away up north together when I had my 111s. He put a Quicksilver exhaust on it (£1k ish I think
) but it is still the best sounding exhaust note I have heard

That looks really nice, great choice!! Always had these on my radar as a cool family allrounder.... keep us posed on any issues and associated costs as I do like these and might be on for the future

Lovely car - classy, understated and very individual. Going to show my inner car geek by saying I preferred the boomerang rear lights on the pre-facelift version (too unusual for the American market apparently
), but still very nice indeed

What's a PK car?istoo wrote:is it a PK car?

Yes, but it needs a little freeing up so to speak. The V8 has a nice growl/roar to it, and to my ear, sounds nicer than the scream of it's Ferrari brethren. Might be something to address in futureFerg wrote:That's a classy motor. Very nice.
Is the exhaust note suitably Italian?

You're absolutely rightryallm wrote:Lovely car - classy, understated and very individual. Going to show my inner car geek by saying I preferred the boomerang rear lights on the pre-facelift version (too unusual for the American market apparently), but still very nice indeed

I started off by weighing up the 3200 against the 4200.
It starts with the 3200 has the awesome boomerang rear lights (which I believe are LED, posibly the only car to go LED for lights then revert to regular?)
Then, I quickly realised the 4200 was better suited to me in almost all other ways, and that I actually preferred the 4200 facelift looks.
Basically:
I prefer natural aspiration over turbo (3.2 twin turbo V8 Maserati engine with belt drive vs. 4.2 NA V8 Ferrari based block with chain drive)
The 3200 interior isn't as good, 3200 wheels don't look as good, front bumper, rear bumper, I'm not sure about the bonnet vents on the 3200.
The build quality got better, as did the reliability.
The more I looked at the 4200, the less I preferred the boomerangs.
That said, when I told my dad I was looking at one, he replied with what the later one that looks like an old Honda Prelude!!

Re: New toy :)
Great choice! I looked at 3200/4200 a few years ago, and got scared by potential bills, but drew the same conclusion: 3200 for those lights, but 4200 as an ownership proposition.
Will probably need to scratch the 4200 itch one day.
Congrats!

Re: New toy :)
Gorgeous thing and the call to go for slightly uglier rear lights over an engine that eats itself is just a no-brainer.

Really like Maserati's and the fact they're different looking. Good choice.
