My mother in law had a Carrerra Crossfire she was wanting to sell a few months ago I'll see if she's still wanting shot, I'd say its prob a large size but lightweight and cost £350-400 new, not sure what she's after for it, as she's never once rode it, it was a gift, she'd most likely be after £200-£250 I'm guessing.....

Thanks Mark - though might be a little big for her if it is large - Mrs F is only 5'2" on a good day :-)

If you can get the size I'd be happy to look into it?

Advice heeded from others to keep eyes peeled for all bikes not just ladies - thanks again all for your input much appreciated!

Cheers

Picked up a Apollo something out of Halfords today for the Mrs ....list £180 ,in store £130, on line £109 she just wanted a new bike and has told me to pick a gear as she will not be changing it. Asked staff a couple of questions when buying . Me...how does the group set compare to that bike ? answer ...whats a group set? once i explained she said i've only been working in bikes since November.......thats five fecking months . Anyway Mrs Squirt will now be joining us on bike trips and hopefully we can build up to gear changes.

Finally got Mrs F sorted with this - https://www.evanscycles.com/saracen-tuf ... e-EV240060

Seemed like a reasonable price plus my work has a reward scheme thing that allows us to get cash back and discounts on store cards and vouchers in a number of high street stores, which got us a further 10% off. So all in £200 for the bike and a natty little helmet too.

First test drive was on Sunday led by Cameron around Linlithgow Loch - and whilst Kellie remains the most reluctant cyclist on earth - we have a wee boy who is both convinced and delighted he taught Mummy how to cycle (and whether she admits it or not - she did have a lot of fun along the way)

Can thoroughly recommend the bike as a starter if anyone is looking - 13.5Kg so easily manageable, gears shift slickly and easy to ride.

Thanks again to everyone for their advice (especially that to try the bike first of possible) - we managed to get a seat on it in Evans Glasgow at Braehead - definitely made sense.

Cheers

Alistair
