As for license fee. Don't mind paying. But I think the method is outmoded.

Wondering if just layering it into taxation makes sense?

Not sure I agree with that tbh. What about the people who have no TV. It's already bad enough that we get a statement every ear now telling us where our tax money gets spent. About 70% of my tax gets spent on things that I don't use.

Isn't that the point, though? If everyone used the things your tax pays for, there wouldn't be enough tax to pay for them. Like insurance.
I sure hope I never need a fire engine, or a brain surgeon, or housing benefits, but I'm sure not going to complain about paying for them to be there just in case!
And every system has inefficiency. Might as well worry about how hot your lightbulbs get.

There was a newspaper article recently about 400/500 (can't remember exact no) people in Scotland who only have black and white licences!

Not sure but I had two different ones, still have and use for Netflix but Iplayer has some new checks they released just before xmas and seems they have blocked the usual suspects.
Not been away for a while so might be sorted but wasnt in early Dec

Sure. Just sayin'.
We need to recognise that TV emerged in a different era and a plan was devised for funding it as a public service. Is that plan valid today? Not sure.
Might we say the same of "road tax" some day too?

Moral dilemma.
I have actually been individually asked now if I would like to pay my TV Licence even though I now get it for free. 1.5 KH Trackdays or feel good factor? Of course it is something that none of you will have to contemplate for fifteen years or so.

Do they provide detail of where the licence fee will be used so you ( and all the other crinklies) can make a rational choice? I reckon the O.A.P.s will be looking for Songs of Praise, Bargain Hunt and Antiques Roadshow where as you'll probably want something a bit racier.......
